I was thinking one solution may be combining this breech with something similar to markfh11q's full auto marble gun.

you should increase the power of the return spring for a faster ROF. 100 PSI will have no problem overcoming the power.

still, thats freaking cool. im currently building one completely out of brass tubing (less friction, smaller mechanism)

its for my select-fire airsoft rifle. hopefully it will work

man if you put an aeg air nozzle on that you could use it with a real hop up chamber and i tight bore i bet it would make a sweet sniper. i am very tempted to try that, this thing is awsome

I wish I had access to airsoft parts, in that case the whole feed mechanism and magazine would have been very easy to lift off an AEG gun. Sadly, airsoft is a bit dodgy here, and besides, I want to shoot lead pellets as the main ammo. I tried the current setup with the latter and it does around 275 fps with 0.22 16 grain pellets, giving a muzzle energy of around 2.7 ft/lbs, almost double the energy with 0.25 gram airsoft BBs

you should increase the power of the return spring for a faster ROF. 100 PSI will have no problem overcoming the power.

A longer spring with a bit of pre-load would definitely have been a better idea, and in retrospect would have aided the possibility of full auto fire. However, I intend to make a blowback prototype based on this design before I do any further work on the blow-forward idea.

I either steal...er... "borrow" them from work or buy them from a pharmacy ;)

For some reason the people at the pharmacy aren't really thrilled with the idea of selling a fifteen-year-old a syringe

dude that guns insane great ingenuity i love it!! And i can get syringes from the walgreens by my house not all syringes have needles on them so you can get them in fact the are usually used (at least here to orally administer medication not inject it) But i dont think they would let a kid get a syringe with a needle.

I was 15 once, I know what you mean - but first of all, I'd like to see the 15 year old that would be suspected of attempting to inject heroin with a 60mL syringe  - and as pointed out above, most syringed above 5mL don't come with a needle.

My usual excuse is that I need them to mix glue (which is true, this is how i get my epoxy resin and hardener mixed in the correct ratio) or my favourite, "I need them for a school project" :D

Thats exactly what I was thinking, why buy classic airsoft gun when you can make one yourself. Classic airsoft guns are the old gas guns made pre-1995 If you didn't already know.

I am going to make something similar to Jack's, but It will be run on pop-off valve and a UK style 1/4" qev that I can get from fastenal for only $12.

That sounds like it would work well. I'm a bit undecided on what to build, the pop-off idea is a good one but I'm sure there's an easier way of doing things. I need to find the time to try out that blowback design first.

the blowback design looks like it would work jack....

the only problem i see is adjusting the recoil spring. if i were you, i would steal the spring out of one of those popy-outy tire guages....................

if you can get tht design to work, make sure to add a charging handle and an opening/closing realistic looking ejection port..... because that would just own..........

What worries me is about the blowback design is the very short distance the bolt travels between starting to fire and opening out to to ammunition magazine - that's the cool thing about the blow-forward design, it starts moving forward on firing so allows enough time for the projectile to leave the barrel before opening up the ammo port again.

I will definitely need to go for maximum airflow and an adjustable spring, which can be as simple as a pen tube and some duct-tape as I used in the cartridge pneumatic, after all it can be ghetto until I find the right adjustment.

if you can get tht design to work, make sure to add a charging handle and an opening/closing realistic looking ejection port..... because that would just own..........

Right now, if it just works I'll be a happy man - in future I'll worry about making it pretty.

Wow, that is absolutly amazing  :D I love that design! definately hats off to you Jack, again.

I love how simple it is. I had a similar design for a paintball marker but I had a different way of directing the gas to the projectile. Your way seems simpler though.

One thing though, I think you should reduce the distance the bolt has to travel when it fires, thus reducing the dead volume of the chamber in the forward bolt position. The ammo isn't very long at all so the bolt should only have to move forward about a cm to load the projectile and fire it. I think the less distance the bolt has to travel the more power the gun will have.

Thanks :)

Valid point but you have to consider that if the bolt only moves forward a cm or so just to seal the barrel, it will not have enough momentum going forwards and will start to moving back and opening the ammo port before the projectile has left the barrel.
