iho de puta :p

hmm well from my extensive knowledge of languages that looks like spanish, if it is then 'puta' means 'tramp' and as far as i can tell this is 'iho' http://www.iho.shom.fr/

but after further investigation in spanish there is a word 'ido' which is as close as i can find to 'iho' (i suppose it could be a verb) but 'ido' means; absent minded or crazy, nuts (loco) or drunk... so i think its something about a crazy drunk tramp?

"iho" should have been spelt "hijo", alas my written Spanish is far worse that my spoken.

May I refer the honourable gentleman to this amusing exchange from Blackadder II, episode 6 - in this case, "perra" can be substituted with "puta":

Torturer: Batardo

Blackadder: Batardo... Barrister?

T: Batardo...

B: Embarrassing.

The torturer jumps off the rostrum and mimes walking with a big pregnant belly. He then mimes cradling a baby in his arms before chucking it away... Basically it's turned into a game of charades.

You're embarrassing. I'm embarrassing. Erm, rogering! Pregnant? Baby... bathwater... sounds like... bastard! Ah. (at last he's got it) I'm a bastard.

T: Si. Esterminado hijo, hijo.

B: Donkey.

T: Padre y hijo.

B: Big bastard. Little bastard.

T: Padre

The torturer mimes panting.

B: Son. I'm a bastard son.

T: Di perra.

B: I'm a bastard son. I'm a thirsty barking bastard.

T: No, perra

He barks.

B: Oh, dog, dog.

T: No...

Mimes breasts.

B: Woman

The torturer mimes woman and dog simultaneously.

No, woman dog... ah, [female doggy]. I'm a bastard son of a [female doggy].

T: Si! Si!

He shakes Blackadder's hand, happy at their mutual success. A triumph for international communication.

B: In that case, you are a fornicating baboon.

T: Que?

B: Oh, dear. You...

T: Tu... o... you.

B: Fornicating... (begins to mime) Yes, I can't really do it in this box.

On a more relevant footnore, the modified prototype is ready for testing once the epoxy cures, results to be announced within the next 24 hours.

HAHA! I MADE IT WORK!

(make sure your sound's on)

Ok, so it broke while I was filming it, but before this clip I had it roaring *dakka dakka dakka dakka* at 110 psi, W00t!

The crack from the piston is really sharp, not really audible in the vid.

Finally, a small smattering of success in a sea of failure :D

Hmmmm, what red hands you've got, must be an epoxy allergy

Excellent to see it working (sort of) now it's just tweaking.

Damn I like this man!! The sounds it makes and all. The popping sound even sounds like a good cycle rate; not too fast. I am keen to seeing the final product, and to what improvements u made now. Awesome!

Well all i can say is good for you! :)

You must be really happy after all those failed attempts. But those failures lead to a success which means you have to fail before succeding.

Now just to make it work properly.

Fixed it again yay :D

This is at lowish (50 psi or so) pressure, it's too late to fire up my compressor, hence the lower rate of fire. Also, I'm keeping the pop-off spring compressed manually with my thumb, which is why it varies.

Thank you all for the compliments, I knew I'd make it some day :D now to give it a proper adjustable mechanism, and then hook it up to the blow forward breech and see how well it does for power :) watch this space.

what red hands you've got, must be an epoxy allergy

Yeah, it's like kryptonite to me :p that's the lighting

Oh COME ON, I've made lots of things work! I've only had a string of failures lately because I took on something a bit more complex, if I had stuck to making ordinary piston cannons like you lot I'd have had success after success :D but seriously, after this, I need to make me a nice single shot launcher, I was thinking of a suppressed 3/4" piston design, sawn-off style (yes, I really liked that movie!)

what exactly went wrong before jsr? just wondering...

The rubber disk that the pop-off valve seals against came off, I simply stuck it back on with araldite.

I made a removable cap for the pop-off, the epoxy's curing as we speak. when that's done, a simple push-fit into the breech will allow primary testing so I'll what sort of power I can expect. If that goes well, I'll make a hopper mag et voila :D
