If you can find it, Id say use some sort of blowgun or button trigger and a flow regulator.

As always, Absolutely insane. I cant wait for the finished product.

BTW, whered you get a 3000 PSI air bottle with an adjustable reg?

thats crazy, how much money did it cost you to build that, anyways thats a really nice gun you have there, would a bigger chamber allow for more shots, and i never used acrylic before, how hard is it in comparison to ply wood?

Poor Mr. Happy face, isn't so happy anymore. :D

Maybe I should turn it up to the reg's maximum 850 psi

Is there any doubt??? You must. There is no question.

You'll need to draw a "fearful" face on the next one too.

OK whoa. I just NOW revisited this thread, and i'll be a son of an autogun. I remember seeing posts here and there from you about full auto and this and that. I thought it was just a curiosity that you were tinkering with but figured you would forget about it and move on. I am totally impressed with your progress with this thing. I mean, it actually works! Holy crap, anyway good job.
You get this thing perfected and its anybody's best guess as to what this could lead to. I envision large, high pressure cannons blasting golf balls out of some 1 1/2" SCH10 at a ridiculous rate. Impressive this thing is. This is the first home engineered and constructed full auto anything I have ever seen.

EDIT: Oh, something like this, at least IMO, would require a lot of trial and error and lots of perseverance. Its paying off!

I am happy for you now!

Now change your "FAIL" avatar to something more positive!

Looking forward to see what is up his proverbial sleeve for the upcoming contest.

Good damage as well.

Not as much as I expected to be honest, it's going to need a bit of tweaking in terms of operating pressure and piston spring strength until I get the performance I envisioned. I'll be happy to have the air tank only last 30 shots if it means MOAR POWER!!!!, we'll see.

If you can find it, Id say use some sort of blowgun or button trigger and a flow regulator.

I'm quite happy with the ball valve as you don't have to open it much, in practice it will have a much more realistic trigger attached to it and will be spring loaded in the closed position.

BTW, whered you get a 3000 PSI air bottle with an adjustable reg?

Cheaply from eBay, but note that I already had a 4500 psi SCUBA tank and connector to fill it from. The reg is adjusted by adding or removing shim washers from the internals, very easy to do.

Is there any doubt??? You must. There is no question.

You'll need to draw a "fearful" face on the next one too.

I'm going to go ahead and make a mag+barrel setup, then play with reg and spring settings according to the requirements at hand :) and yes, now that the rate of fail is diminishing, the faces should be less optimistic :D

Oh, something like this, at least IMO, would require a lot of trial and error and lots of perseverance. Its paying off!

If you look at the series of prototypes that lead up to this design, perseverance was certainly a virtue. But see, it pays off :)

I have neither the space or the resources to make this on a golfball scale - this valve is intended for a portable sumbmachinegun style launcher - but the design's there and it works for anyone who does :)

JSR that is fantastic!!!!!

I am happy for you now!

Now change your "FAIL" avatar to something more positive!

cheers :) and yes, the failboat does seem to be fading into the distance :)

That would mean showing you where I live, and I'm not about to do that :P :D

Have you chroned it ?

Not yet, I'm going to wait until I have a proper barrel and magazine setup first so I'll be able to chrony "mid range" shots to get a more realistic idea of performance.

The noise in the video might be amusing but the blast in real life isn't, it was blowing the posters off my wall from across the room  :D

I only had time for quick testing yesterday but today I'll get to work on a proper barrel and magazine setup, then have a play with spring/reg settings to evaluate actual performance. After that, I promise a proper trigger and stock in a P90 sized/configured package :)

Write to the Vatican I think you can get compensation if they were catholic smileys.

Great to see it finally working (mostly) don't you wish you could send a PM to the several years younger us on Spudtech and have saved all this hassle (and epoxy)?

They'd just move the smileys from one Parish to another, this is why they need to be riddled with holes

If only  the idea of a "stepped" piston was there early on, sadly I chose to follow other routes without understanding the basic critical necessities of the design that were essential to make it work. Ah well, we got there in the end :)

SubsonicSpud wrote:I think JSR is going for the journey not the destination

Think again, much as I love research and development this is a lot of aggravation I could have done without :P My only regret is since few like working with epoxy like I do, it isn't really a design "for the people" in the way a cloud BBMG is, though I'm sure the concept could be built out of more standard parts.

Back to the subject of this thread, now that I have the valve working I'm having a calibre crisis. I had set my mind on 4.5mm BBs in a tee breech but now I'm not so sure, decisions decisions...
