Your design is an oversimplification then, because I can see that has problems. There are details you're not giving.

I-will I believe that design will work pull it back as far as you can and while still holding the cocking handle sort of push it back slowlynot letting it snap.

You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

everything on the design isn't exact. i kinda draw those up right before i post them. but the principal is there. since that drawing is bothering some of u then i'll show a simpler way to make a springer. this is how those $3 springers work. u basically pull the whole cylinder to lock the piston and load a bb. i once used a small metal ball pump to make this piston and cylinder.

And here we have it, the 3 hour MS paint picture of my detailed springer (I've got the cold so I had alot of spare time, too hard to think for homework). Since I don't have the perfect piston cocker like commercial spring pistols, I have to use 3 different tubes. Hopefully everything is self explanatory. Just a tell though, the top square bit is piston dragger.

And yes the piston is off scale, but was too lazy to fix it.

Thanks, lil bro.

It's Nerf or Nothing.

Don't start crying when I play this as my hobby, Paintball, Airsoft and Nerf are equally good hobbies, except you can play Nerf in public. Good day! Hmph!

i'm happy that u chose to go with the easier design.

one question though. r u able to get the standard 6mm bbs or any ammo that u can always get when wanted. it would suck to run out of ammo. and u gotta have a close fit between ammo and barrel to get a decent fps. u prolly already know that though.

i wish u success.

I can get standard 6mm craft beads <,<. You should realise how lucky you guys are, airsoft itself is illegal but airsoft bbs in Australia are full expensive, it's about $15 for a pack of 300 .12g bbs lol. Craft beads weigh about .10g (i wish it was that tad heavier, probably fill em up with flour or somethin).

The breech is an overcomplication in my view when you could have gone with the tee breech, keep it simple ;)

the only way the pressure would push down on the bbs in the mag is if u were using a compressed gas like co2. a spring can't provide that pressure if it needs to fit in a m1911. to assure that u don't waste pressure in the mag there should be a nozzle

Springers generate a surprising amount of pressure, several thousand psi in the case of pellet firing airguns. With a directly operated (as in not attached to a lever) piston like this one, it won't be so high, but still nothing to laugh at, and in my opinion more than enough to operate the breech I suggested.

You should also note that by introducing a smaller diameter nozzle, you're restricting the airflow and therefore losing power, so it's still a trade-off in terms of performance.

Hmm instead of makign the breech I'll still produce the same design just with JSR's T mag feed idea. The only problem is that I'll have to make the magazine air tight, since bic pens are 6.5mm'ish and is not a perfect fit for a bead or bb. So I was thinking of placing an oring on top of the magazine tube to minimise that extra lost of air.

Btw. Do you buy brakeline barrels from car stores? I'm sick of using bic pens as my barrels. XS

lookie what I found :D

1 metre of 6mm i/d carbon fibre tubing for just 23 of your finest australian dollars!
- it's 8mm o/d with a wall thickness of 1mm so it should fit airsoft BBs perfectly ;)

Again, go to your local hobby/model shop, they usually stock this sort of stuff.

Rawr!!! Brisbane makes me angry!!!! I was looking up yellow pages and all the hobby stores are friggin 30km/h radius away from me!! You make me angry Brisbane, my best bet is going to buy brakeline barrels. 5/16" ones are about 7.93mm, but I'm goign to assume its a good fit since I've heard taht 5/16" are like perfect for airsoft bbs. To the auto store!

Thanks for the link, but 23 of my fine aussie dollars is basically the cost to make three-fifths of my gun. My vortex gun costs abotu 35bucks (assuming i use bicpen tubes). Thanks for the help.

It's 23 dollars for a metre, that means you can get 3 12 inch barrel out of it. The ali or brass tubing would be much cheaper though, I would check out a hobby shop before buying brakeline.

As I understand it, 5/16" is the external diameter, meaning that the internal diameter would be around 1/4" - not perfect for 6mm BBs but reasonably close. Good tolerance is critical for power, I had done a comparison test comparing a 4.5mm i/d barrel with a 5mm i/d barrel, for 4.5mm lead balls. That 0.5mm difference gave about 25% less power for the wider barrel, just to show you how important barrel tightness is.
