Airsoft XM-214 (microgun) vortex BBMG.

Unread postAuthor: pipo305 » Fri Jun 05, 2009 8:30 pm

Hi guys!

Just new to this forum :)

I'm building an airsoft minigun. All is almost done now. Is fire throught a hidden barrel in the middle of the rotating barrels. I have installed an airsoft hop-up units with it.

I'm making test using a shop compressor. Now I'm ready to go CO2.

My question: What can i use to regulate CO2 pressure down to about 90-120PSI.?

I'm looking for something cheap that I could just screw a paintball bottle on it and adjust the pressure.

Or maybe an paintball fixed regulator?

I'm pretty new to CO2 :(

Thanks guys! And here is a pic of my gun :)

I think if you go to homedepot you can get a c02 reg made for nail guns and such that will give you that pressure.

You know youve been on an american forum too long when you give advice that involves american products and exactly where to find them

Palmer's Stabilizer. Its a paintball regulator and its not cheap, but its the best out there. Fully adjustable 0-700 psi.

Any videos of this with the barrels spinning?

By the way, nice foot, and welcome to Spudfiles.

I would recommend running a remote line to an HPA bottle in a backpack. Paintball regs will probably do exactly what you want.

Thanks to the internet, I know everything about everything exept how to actually do anything.

Oh now you noticed! It's a cool launcher though, so we'll forgive this one :)

Someone had done something similar here (hidden central barrel) though the pictures are dead now. It would be cool to see actual functioning rotating barrels but can't fault your effort, let's see it in action!

Thanks for the replies guys :)

I'll try and post a video on youtube soon. Since I am the father of 2 years old twins, free time is very hard to find.

Anyway, this project is in it's third years in the making now. It started out with the vortex block at the bottom of a long 4" ABS pipe vertical feeder located in a backpack along with a small scuba tank. The BB then go through a hose all the way to the gun and into the hidden barrel. It work fine exept for one thing. BB start spining sideway because of the curve of the hose from the backpack to the gun making a "hop-up" effect be sideway. At about 30-40 feet they would start going right turn. And I mean like 45 - 70º!!!!

So now I placed the block inside the gun. inline like it should be.

Thanks Carlman, I noticed that reg you talked about. Here it cost about 130$ And I wandered if there could be something cheaper that I could convert. I read somewhere in here that people used a "tire inflator" or something like that... Not sure and can't find it again.

Here's some more pics :)

Seeing this, I'm actually kind of considering to pick up some telescoping tubes to make this. But I'll probably just throw it onto the backburner for "when I get my lathe" so I can turn up nice plates and a good feed mechanism et cetera. Maybe a centrifugal feed with hoppers advanced by springs.

But..I don't have a lathe. Yet.

Nice build!

You could use propane. By the way tire inflators are often unregged CO2 carts (very small). If we mean the same thing.

A Palmer Pursuit stabilizer and remote setup would be perfect.

The Regulator screws onto standard paintball bottles and the other end is a quick disconnect and a 1/8" NPT nipple.

Is fire throughout a hidden barrel in the middle of the rotating barrels

So they DO rotate then?

Very nice build even if they don't spin!

The regulator at Lowes is fine and only ~$99.

This looks just like an air-sharp/killbucket design (THE airsoft God), is it? If it is, the barrels rotate by means of a small motor that is connected to the barrel set by means of a vacuum cleaner belt. I am thinking of buying one of his kits in the near future.

Hi guys!

es, the barrels spins :) And no it is not air-sharp design. It is my design :) (might be why it is not working properly)

I decided to remove the vortex block and replace it by an airsoft gearbox. That way, I'll get consistent result. A lower ROF but a much cleaner shot and good hop-up.

Later!

:)

Hello,

not sure if anyone is looking at this or if you have moved away from your CO2 ideas for this gun, but this is what you would be looking for.

http://www.outbackequipped.com/products.asp its called a "static regulator" generally designed in-line for welding applications or like this for automotive and are usually anywhere from 100-200 PSI
