You have to lubricate the mould before pouring so it can slide out.

What lubrication works? I tried cooking spray, couldn't get it out yesterday.

It would help to know what the mold is made of?

There are actual mold release compounds.

Most mold release compounds are wax based. I've seen car wax, candle wax, and ski wax used as inexpensive alternatives.

Meguiar's car wax is more or less the same as their mold release wax. Multiple coats polished to a gloss will let epoxy pop out of a mold with a little encouragement.

All the encapsulation or potting compounds that I had used on molds typically worked the best with a mold release that contained some PTFE.

Similar to this;

This was of course in a production environment where quality of the product was a major concern. The molds were typically made out of materials like nylon, delrin or polyethylene.
