3/2 valve as main valve?

This area is for the discussion of BB or airsoft sub machine guns, and or other small arms such as pellets.

Wait, another idea just hit me after reading this

http://www.zdspb.com/tech/misc/solenoids_design.html

more importantly this little section

I should also mention that any four-way solenoid can be effectively converted to a three-way, by simply blocking off one of the outputs (blocking the idle output makes it a normally-closed; blocking the firing output makes it a normally-open).

now I'm trying to understand how this works...

well I was about to suggest that...
the idea is simple - you block off one output and it almost becomes a 3 way valve - I say almost because it will still loose a tiny amount of air - precisely the volume of the inside of the valve leading to the blocked off port

it has one major advantage - you buy a 5 way valve and then you can either have:
A) a 5 way valve :-D
B) a NO valve (if you block off one port)
C a NC valve (if you block the other port)

I'll experiment with when I get it then. Now all I have to do is find a valve with 1/4 NTP threads

edit

Would 1/8" exhaust port be enough to fire a BB? Or do I have to get a valve with 1/4" exhaust?

it would be enough but 1/4" would give you better power
