Walther CP99,low power,new internal pics page 3

Unread postAuthor: django » Fri Mar 23, 2012 6:45 am

Man I really have had a bad run with these BB Guns ive managed to get hold of a Walther CP99 Compact co2 pistol but it doesnt shoot very far at all?!.

it was brand new when I got it 2 weeks ago but if I stand a coke can upright and fire at a distance of only 10 meters then aim for the very top of the can= the bb only just manages to strike the very bottom part of the can!?.

Its a co2 blowback that shoots steel .177 bbs at 300-345 fps, sadly the sights are non adjustable , every review I read about it everyone says the gun is great but mine is defiately faulty even though its new!?.

Theres a few clips on you tube and guys using the same gun are easily hitting cans/ bottles at 15- 20 meters no problem, I dont know whats wrong with it!?.... theres a rubber seal at the breech and when you push the trigger a brass gas gas tube pushes through this O ring type seal and expells air behind the bb,it still seems ok so dunno if its this?.

I took the slide off and cocked the hammer block then pulled the trigger ,the hammer block comes down but seems with not really that much force?. If the hammer block spring is weak could this cause the gun to throw out bbs at much less power??......

This is it http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Walther_CP99_Compact/735 seems really well made and heavy too, blowsback hard and very fun to shoot and really pissed off my one doesnt shoot very far!?.It does not leak any gas and im getting the specified 80 shots per 12 gram bulb but half the distance!?????????..

Theres no way mine shoots as hard as this!?

Dude... either you have unrealistically high expectations of these things, or you're *really* unlucky with your purchases!

Realistically, a 0.3g steel BB at 350 fps has less than 1.5 ft/lb - that sort of energy is equal to a 0.25g BB at less than 400 fps, safe to be fired in an airsoft skirmish...

Here's a power tip, leave the capsule in your pocket or in the sun for a few minutes to let it heat up, you'll get higher pressure.

Another thing, rapid fire/mag dumping cools the capsule more quickly, greatly reducing pressure and shot count.

im 100% sure something's wrong with it Jack!,yes im definately cursed as well  .

I took the slide off again, pulled the trigger to seal the gas tube feeder against the breech seal and blew my breath down the barrel= air comes out at the hammer valve!( around where the hammer valve's pin is).

Im guessing this is the problem??,though you can't hear a leak and it still has plenty of co2 after leaving a co2 bulb charged in the gun for a day or two.

First the Glock airsoft wont feed right, then the Galaxy MP5K's gearbox shell cracks now this CP99 isnt working right! bloody rediculous man!!.

I can get no response from Walther/Umarex regarding spare parts and just cant seem to locate any parts for this CP99 Compact anywhere and its not like its an old gun...

How good is the fit of the revolver mag?

What sort of pellets/BBs are you using?

Django, try putting a stronger spring in the hammer its self, and maybe a stronger one in the valve as well. It may help.

No cause the seller is over east,im over the other side of Australia= again I paid a fortune for it but cause they are impossible to sneak into the country.

I trhink I found the problem?,if I pull the trigger it seals thew gas tube against the breech and that seems airtight. If i blow down the barrel with my breath you can hear air hiss right out around the hammer valve's pin!? and this gun is new!.

I emailed Umarex in the U.S they sell a whole new valve at $15.00 but looks really ,really complicated to change it over, the millions of little parts.I was sent an exploded diagram of the gun,if I can just get the rubber seals for the valve then I can uncrew the back of the valve and pop the seals in.

Its odd cause I cant hear any gas leak when its charged

Today I had another look at this Pistol,if I hold the pistol so the barrel is pointing upwards and the sun shining in through the top of the slide opening where the barrel's breech is.

You pull the trigger and it pushes the gas tube forwards into the breech and should seal it but it doesnt use an O-ring here? just relies on a tight tolerance fit.I can see the sun shining through between the gas tube and the barrel,so gas will be escaping out of this section lowering its power.

I'll post pics later tonight to clarify, might have to try get my cash back?..

Here we go guys, Im really depressed this thing doesnt have much range!?= Its Japanese made too,Im pretty sure its losing gas when trigger is pulled so not firing as powerfull as it should?..

Slide removed
Image

Im pretty sure Air is leaking around this hammer pin
Image

You pull the Trigger and this Air Nozzle pushes forwards and seats into the breech of the barrel, theres no O-ring it just has a hard plastic barrel packing!( even the diagram of this gun says so). You can see light shine through where this mates the breech if you look down the barrel!!?.
Image

Image

Theres a small pin thats attatched to the top slide, this hammer hits that pin on the slide and strikes the hammer valve's pin
Image

Image

Check this!, that decorative barrel shroud is crooked and the top section is right on the very edge of the barrel's ID,dunno if this is causing the bbs flight pattern to change?.

Hmmm... the CP99 I'm familiar with by umarex has a revolver magazine:

The Umarex design with the revolver mag has no rubber seals at the port/mag/breech interface either, and it's fine.

Does it penetrate both sides of a soup tin at point blank range?

Latest is= UMAREX U.S.A can not supply seals but the whole hammer valve itself for $15.00 but later when I told them I need it posted to Australia they then said they wont ship to Australia ,GRRRRRRRR!!!!.

I cant find spare parts for this thing anywhere online apart from Umarex U.S.A who wont ship here ( its just a valve!)
