4" over/under cannon

Unread postAuthor: SpudBlaster15 » Fri Nov 10, 2006 8:57 pm

I decided to make another cannon, and I wanted this one to be compact, and very powerful. The result is an over/under cannon featuring a 4" x 16" combustion chamber, and a 2" x 48" barrel. The gun is way over chambered at 1.3:1, but because I wanted to use a set barrel size, this will only increase power. It uses a single spark gap placed 3/4 of the way towards the rear, which I have found to work as well as any mulitple spark ignition. I have yet to install a chamber fan, and I may do so if I feel the need. This thing has WAY more power than my old gun.

Looks good, looks like a 1/10th scale truck tire and a bottle of fuel in that box, am I correct? But why so much space between the reducer and first elbow. Just more space for ignition?

Yeah, those are for my RCs.

The spacing allows me to comfortably place the "U" portion between my right arm and my side, while holding the barrel just above the igniter with my left arm, and the igniter with my right.

Also, if I wanted to make a cut and place a threaded female/male adapter pair between the reducer and elbow so that I could interchange between inline and over/under, I have enough room for the adapters to completely seat. After firing this thing, however, I dont know if I ever want to go back to inline. It is so nice to hold, and it's power to length ratio is very high.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I think they are DWV. Nothing to worry about on a combustion though.
