My New Beast-With Upgrades!

Unread postAuthor: jjjd » Sun Dec 10, 2006 8:58 pm

This is the second gun i have ever made, it has a 4" combustion, 3" corner, and a 2" barrel but i left it threaded so i can change it later if i want, i used a 1 1/2 ball valve and i kept the chamder detachable incase something happens to the fan. metered propane but i left the pipe a little long for it just to lazy to cut it, i just have to clean it up a bit and move the wiring around, other than that any tips or questions?

I think you should put a 10ft barrel on it. (Seriously, im not even kidding)
pi r^2 h
pi 1 120
377

300/377 = 0.79
0.79:1

What are you using for an igniter?

A 10ft barrel might be a little bit difficult to manage, but it would sure improve performance. Almost anything would be better than the puny barrel he currently has on it...

yeah i am going to be adding a longer barrel soon, i have tried it a couple times and it shot not bad but here the tempurature is about -10C and the tank preasure dropped to about 55, were it should sit at about 95, any ideas for a better sparker, tazers are illegal in canada and the ignition box on bc arms is a bit to expensive for me

You should have calculated the meter pipe length based on a lower pressure, so you could set your regulator low enough that it would compensate for a pressure drop in the tank.

For an igniter, try to find an electric gas grill igniter, they are about $20CND where I live.

Where in Canada do you live?

Just use modded camera flash ignition. I doubt that throwawayable (my awesome new word lol) cameras are illegal in Canada.

Camera flash igniters suck. Electric fly swatters dont work much better, both require a rediculously small gap to allow a spark to be produced. You can run either through an inductive coil, but those are large and heavy. A battery grill igniter on the other hand would work very well.

However, there is nothing wrong with a piezoelectric grill igniter in the first place.

I'm just down the hill from the hospital. I usually go out either behind the slimes or to Hershey lake to shoot my spudguns, depending on how many people are around.
