Electric fly swatter

Unread postAuthor: SpudBlaster15 » Wed Dec 06, 2006 8:38 pm

Has anyone ever tried using an electric fly swatter as an ignition source? I just took one apart and it appears to resemble a stun gun circuit. Does anyone have any idea as to the voltage these produce? Thanks.

Yeah I got one at Harbor Freight tools (really cheap tool place) for $2 and I think it said it was 5000 volts.

But I havent tried using it as an ignition becuase its so fun watching little bugs be zapped to death and then start smoking and all that cool stuff.

Well, I have determined that the device's main components are a step up transformer, and a capcitor, probably similar to the one contained within a disposable camera. This means it produces a pulsed current, and thus I can wire it to the ignition coil I have laying around. Tomorrow I will attempt to rig it up.
