That means you did something wrong. Potato cannon dont blow up unless you do something stupid like use oxygen in pvc or something. Was it really cold when this happened? What happened is a better question.

I don't think his hand was seriously injured because if it was he couldn't type very well and would be at the hospital rather than on spudfiles. Im still curious as to what exactly you did.

I wasn't really holding it in the traditional way cap was on the ground and my hand was on the barrel luckily the large chunck that flew off went in the oposite direction of me, I found it 30+ feet away

Seven (But spelled in the witty movie title way): It is not funny, at all.

Crsaz: A 'massive explosion' will destroy anything ina 50' radius. Sorry, but I am a bit peculiar about such hyperbole. (And I have a thing about explosives... bad combination ;) )

You used a wax slug? Could it have possibly turned sideways in the barrel or gotten stuck in any way?

Wax wouldn't be able to hold back the pressure that well, if it got jammed or stuck, the air would blow right through it and bits of wax would go flying from the barrel.

But if that is the case, what caused the explosion? This certainly is labyrinthine.
Just so it is confirmed, are you hurt in anyway? Apart from the shock, are you injured?
