I got a 12v Totes compressor as a random Christmas gift last year.
It's small/ lightweight.
I've never used it much because it only plugs into car cigarrette lighters.

Hooked to my motorcycle battery it'll only charge to about 30-40psi. (Although my battery's not fully charged.)

It claims on the box it charges up to 250PSI but that seems like a joke.

Today I was at Advance Auto Parts and noticed a clearance on two similar compressors.

One $10 other like $13 and one claimed 260 PSI. I know they're crappy but at that price there cheaper than bike pumps.

My question, is there any use for them in spud type applications?

I was kind of thinking if maybe the cover could be stripped down for even smaller size also?

Thanks in advance. Confused Cool

ya, you can use them once to pump up the cannon, then shoot it out after it melts down getting it to a half decent pressure.

at 250-260 psi I would be concerned with the attachment to a tire valve....is it threaded?

No, it looked like a bike pump type nozzle (where you press it and push the lever down).

The schraeder is threaded it will go onto.
Kind of silly they advertise 250+ psi when it's meant for car tires 30-40 psi. And it would overheat filling a big container.

They do have a built in gauge that goes that high.
Maybe just the gauge would be useful once it breaks?

Smallish marble and BB guns...it will work itself to death trying to fill big chambers. Personally, I would stay away from them.

250 psi sounds a bit ambitious to me.

I already have the one I got as a random gift. Guess I'll probably leave it in car or saddlebags for emergency.
Sounds like hi's reply will happen

BTW one time I had just finished a cannon and was out with a girl in her car and I told her about my cannon just so she'd come over so I could plug it in but she was in a hurry so I still don't know the real capability.
(when I told her she said "awesome I'd love to see it later")

Also I noticed some cheap, but cool digital tire gauges (they only go to 99psi) I am thinking of built in digital gauge for coolness. Wink

Yeah, I should put the money towards a stirrup pump like Gippetto's How-to. Cool Thanks guys

EDIT: @Carlman, I type so slow I missed your reply. Actually I'm thinking of building something similar to TDU, since I have most of the parts. well I'll try the one I have till it breaks but I don't know about buying more if it does. Thanks.

From what I read here you're much better off ripping out a compressor from a fridge Wink

Hello JSR, I should go by the HVAC place I worked at before and maybe get one for free (if the same people still work there).

It would be nice to get into higher pressure stuff.
I guess I could use co2 also but that could get expensive for just testing stuff.

One of the worst things about the little compressor(12v) is the awful noises it makes.
clak clak...(pause) clak!
Lol,I don't usually mind noise but that can't be good! Cool

OOops, Embarassed I didn't bother to search because I've been reading a while and never noticed the same topic.

It's cool if a mod wants to delete this thread since there's one similar. Sad Cool

EDIT: My power went out earlier for the evening and when it came on I was in a hurry to find out. (excuse, but true)
