Yesterday I designed a hybrid (in my head). I ended up in a hardware
store 4 1/2 hours ago. This is the result.

It still needs the spark gap, cable gland & one way valve.

I want to install a 1/4 inch NPT shrader, instead of binary adhesives.

And the specs

15mm bore (at the moment)
45cm barrel
45cc chamber
20mm burst disc
1-5X mix

That's about the sum of it, so let me know if I've missed anything
or if you want to know something.

Does the barrel have a seam through it? How do you plan on installing the ignition?

The barrel is seamed, but I plan to wad the projectiles. Also, ignition
will be machined HDPE with a M3 25mm bolt.
It's low voltage ignition, so insulation isn't much of a problem.

Thanks for replying.

Ah, a couple of firings and the seam will probably wear smooth anyway Wink good luck with making it happen. Is it going to be hand-held or mounted?

Handheld, the damn barrel was the most expensive part, I couldn't get the 7.5mm 100cm aluminium tube that I wanted, couldn't find the 12mm
150cm copper either.

[Edit: thanks chinnerz, I should have it going by Monday]

Thanks, I might make a wire frame stock, the end caps were $1.69 &
the chamber was $7.80.

If you (or anyone else) is in Aus, let me know and I'll PM you the hardware store name.

Nope, Home Hardware all the way (sorry -_-). I'm from Central Vic
so I went to Bendigo.

The union was $5.80, and there was 25mm unions as well, so I've got
a source for my light gas gun build.

you could use a old 12g or 20g shot gun barrel weld it to a nut . that way you could have a really smooth inside & use shotgun wads as your sabot . + then use solid slugs or shot . i have been told 20g is the same as .577 - 58 cal & paint balls .

Really JSR? nothing to say on that?

less than $50 for a hybrid? I think that's awesome, might look into it

I probably would use copper pipe for the barrel, as this handy guide shows, it can take hybrid pressures.

How do you intend to meter your fuel and pressurize the cannon?

From the copper tube handbook in the link

All I can say is that there is probably less than $10 of material in any of the hybrids I've built so far Wink
