| Hello, I'm building a new launcher and I'm trying to make it as light as possible. With my chamber fan I want to power it by a 9V battery. I was wondering if the battery would be alright being mounted in the chamber. Or would the battery explode? I was thinking I could mount it on the fan it self on the front and duct tape it in place. Any ideas about the mounting process would help. Oh and it's a PC fan from radio shack. |

| Yeah your probably right. But doesn't the combustion process happen in less than a second? If so would it be enough to cause the battery to explode? I have a backup fan controller from my other launcher. Since I wanted this cannon to be as light as possible I was planning on doing it with the battery in the chamber. |

Wait, I think he may place his in the grip. But other pieces, such as the fan switch, etc are in his chamber.
Really, there's only one way to find out. |

That doesn't necessarily make the design ideal, or even acceptable from a safety standpoint... |

I really don't want a battery exploding in my chamber that would suck.  and I really don't want to cause a safety issue with my cannon ether. |

| It should be easy enough to design an external battery storage compartment that is well integrated into the aesthetics of your launcher. Really, the only possible reason for placing the battery inside the chamber is if you are adding a fan to an existing cannon as an afterthought, and some design element interferes with ideal battery placement. |

| If I did find out a way to install the battery in the chamber, would it cause any problems with the battery when the combustion happens? |

Some batteries state not to place them in a fire as they may explode. I'm not sure if the heat produced in a combustion chamber will be sufficient or long lasting enough to cause this, but it might.
Better safe than sorry. |

| Alright thank you. On my other cannons I have used an external fan box, its not hard at all to wire, and it should not create that much weight ether witch I'm trying to avoid. Like you said "It's better to be safe, than sorry". Thank you for the help! |

| I have used the Ultimatespudgun system to construct Mr Morph. The 9v battery inside the chamber will be perfectly fine....IF.... you find a way to secure the battery from moving around in the chamber and keep the electrical wires tied up and away from the mix fan blades. The battery and connecting wires are plenty robust enough to survive in there. |
