LMAO

You are all very limited in your knowledge of airsoft!

Decent airsoft gun is atleast $200+ (only because of recent ECHO)
Usually around $300-400 is Good (Classic Army etc.)
$400+ Good Gun! (CA, VFC ect.)

I personally have 11 AEG airsoft guns that average about $350.

+Airsoft has REALISTIC LOOKING GUNS! GEAR! GAMEPLAY!

Airsoft is meant to be played with good guns and with alot of people, you can't judge airsoft until you have played with 100+ people.

I play at BadKarma Airsoft.

Operation irene III:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fyd_h5nfXDA
(look up Operation Irene on youtube)

Nashvilleairsoft.com (personally know the owners)

Badkarmaairsoft.net (Good People, know them all)

Also when you start to get hit with assloads BB's you call out.
BB's flying at a standard 400-450 AEG. I have many permanent marks all over.

That looks insanely expensive! I would never play at a place with a $250 entry fee!

Paintball costs more in the long run.

Airsoft is more simulation because of the replicas. Yes there are some cheap plastic guns, however the majority of the guns are great looking replicas. Yes the caliber of the round is not the same as the real gun and the internals are not the same as the real gun, but thats because its supposed to be a safe simulation. Whoever said try the marines.. the marines use airsoft (ptw) for training simulation. There are paintball replica m16's however there are a lot more different replicas for airsoft.

To say you have to spend $200+ on an decent airsoft gun is stupid. There are numerous guns that you can get for $100 - $150 retail with good solid internals. If you are buying solely on brand name then maybe your opinion is skewed by that.

Airsoft BB's are a lot less expensive than paint balls. The gear in airsoft is less expensive and on average contest entry fees are actually more for paintball. There are occasions where entry fees for airsoft are quite high but I have seen paintball entry fees go up to $500 per team (speed ball).

I enjoy both, but it is quite clear airsoft is cheaper and is more of a simulation.

I will point this out though, paintballs do cause more damage not because of their velocity but because of their weight. They cause more joules per contact than airsoft bbs.

With that said both hobbies have their pros and cons, but if you are going for simulation or cost, then airsoft is the winner hands down. If you are going for more damage, then paintball is your winner hands down.

In my personal opinion I enjoy airsoft more because im a tactical simulation junky.

Well here in Aussieland we can't even own our own airsoft guns. Airsoft Australia (ASA) is an independant group I think which is trying to get airsoft back into Australia. There are paintball fields in Australia but their really expensive Sad. For thirty bucks you can get 100 paintballs and a paintball gun, which is kinda expensive. They say you use 100 paintballs per hour, yeah bull, more like 300paintballs per second. Conserving ammo in my opinion isn't fun because after your very low on ammo... all you really do is wait and wait and wait, no action what so ever, whereas in airsoft you can have like 5000rounds for like 20 bucks and fire away. Airsoft well I wish I had it because for various reasons:

1. It's realistic XD
2. It's much more cheaper than paintball
3. It hurts less, it just stings
4. It tests the people you're versing with honesty and sportsmanship, which is really important. If you think about it if you didn't have those traits in other sports, then no one would like you.
5. It reminds me of all the first person shooter games like CS or COD lol.

Me and my friend is trying to build portable bbmgs / semi-auto / cock per shot to play improvised airsoft. At the moment trying to make a plunger pistol. Well anyway that was opinion and future thinking XD

That was very ignorant of you to say. No offense to you... just correcting you.

My JG that I play with every game costs $90. It has never had anything go wrong internally or broken on the externals. http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ER-XL-AK47-0509.htm

Also, echo 1 guns average anywhere from 130-150... not over 200.

Look at this page http://www.airsplat.com/CA(ClassicArmy).htm
There are tons of CA guns for well below $300.

I think Davidvaini summed it up well enough. Let this thread die before it turns into a flame war and a bunch of retards saying "lulz paintball is liek so leet bcuz in airsoft it duznt hurt as bad, lul, airsofters are liek major wimpz!!1" or "all paintballerz r stupid gays with ther neon pink gunz n ther unreelistic geer!!!11"

This argument is pointless:
if you want realism: get your self a MILES unit (it’s as close as you’ll get with out trading lead)
if you want to play paintball: play paintball
if you want to play airsoft: play airsoft

If you are going for realistic guns, airsoft is your game. If its adrenaline you want, paintball is the way to go (well, speedball is anyway) I dont really have to worry about gas or even paint for that matter. I can get hpa for free at my field, and i get a case of paint every weekend from my local shop. As far as guns go, markers can get pretty up there, whereas most AEGs won't cost you any more than like $300.

look up this gun on airsoft gi.
People are RAVING this gun is awesome and have found guns all over the place (mostly pistols though) that are gas (By far other than spring the most reliable guns) for much less than 120 bux. I must admit, you don't get TOO much for less than 200 bux, but their is a huge load of guns that are very good for less than 200.

Operation Irene is $300 entry, I don't play there.

Badkarma airsoft has no entry fee! FREE! $5 for Lunch (includes Hamburger,Chips, and as many sodas as you want!)

Also the prices I gave were rough estimates. But is a generally accurate, Most of the times in airsoft... You get what you pay for.

I have 5 MK1 Rugers! They are awesome pistols, probably the best, and it defies my "get what you pay for" rule for only ~$60 these things are beasts. I recommend for side arm!!!

On alot of airsoft pistols gas is wasted on blowback pistols just to move the slide back for realism. On the MK1 Ruger (non-blowback) full force is used to project the BB!

Also for the Paintball vs. Airsoft, It just depends, I personally get a much GREATER rush from airsoft than paintball.

If you explore the internet, you can find much more websites dedicated to airsoft. You dont find nearly as much for paintball.
One website is airsoftretreat.com, though i do not recommend using this site, they are arrogant assholes that are blind and idiotic. One member claimed pvc will explode if you pump air into it because it is not air pressure rated. Yet it holds water pressure. He was idiotic by thinking air pressure is different from water pressure, which it isnt. Anyways, the people there are arrogant fools, I suggest not going there, period. I only used the place as an example.

As you can see, the paintball search popularity has been going down over the last few years, and airsoft has been slowly rising. The point is, Airsoft is replacing paintball

Well I'm going to paintball for the first time in I think about 3 months time when I have the money. But in Australia they really need to make an airsoft field where you can hire airsoft gun and play.

Although they really make paintball expensive. I was looking up the paintball prices and I found that you can buy 8000 .68cal paintballs for $US50. At the place i'm planning to go to it's like $17.50 for 78 paintballs.. expensive much? The guns they use are the tippman since I think their power is adjustable... But Australia is too anti-gun to make them over powered like 350fps.

Here's a little history lesson if people haven't already known.
I think it goes like this ...

Some dude decided to go to a school in Port Arthur, Tasmania? and shoot everyone with his forsaken gun. After that the PM decided to buy back all the guns purchased by Australians and disposed of them. I think airsoft was at one stage legal in Australia until that foolhardy fool went on a rampage. Sad story really, if that didn't happen airsoft would be still legal, but as my teacher says, accidents in history Sad

Airsoft<cost<Paintball
Airsoft<realism<Paintball
Airsoft<fun<Paintball

Those are the three things that I see when comparing the two. I've been down this road before. I never take a side. The cost for airsoft almost perfectly negates the fun and realism of paintball. So I can't chose.

I personally play both airsoft and paintball. I think that they are both about the same, because most of my friends only play airsoft, so I play that more often, but my church has a paintball ministry where we can meet and play paintball on the weekends for free (byop). I will admit that paintball is more expensive in the long run, but I have a decent marker that only cost $110, less than most high-quality airsoft guns.

In my opinion, both are very much good for different things.
Short and simple, this is how I'd sum it up:

- If you're out for a military "simulation", airsoft is likely your better choice.
- If you're just out for a firefight, go with paintball.

That's the difference in my fairly neutral opinion.
