I use a ball valve breech to load wadding (A paper towel) Then drop in a broom stick, You can impale a tree with a broom stick.

how do AA batterys do compared to other munition? are they pretty precise? do they do some descent damage? I will be using them for a pneumatic canon.

Note: I'm still a total noob at spudguns

Nice and heavy so they do plenty of damage if travelling fast enough, but they are unstable so if you want them to fly straight they'll need some form of tail.

Didn't feel like wading through 17 pages just now... but if you go to Petco there is a product that is sold as a dog toy which looks like a mini tennis ball. Called tougher than tennis balls. Not the squeaky toy ones, but the solid ones, that are in reality 35ishmm Rubber bullets, covered in some fabric and a little glue that make them fit PERFECT in a 40mm barrel (1.5" PVC). They fly bad ass! So much so I am using them in my demonstration to the military. (after writ dying them black) They are my projectile for the 40mm rubber bullet gun until we get our own made to spec. I am ringing up the distributor to get a few hundred of them. I weighed 8 of them today and 6 of them weighed exactly 23 grams, the other two were slightly heavier, but you could tell that they rejects since there was some excess rubber visible along the covered seam.

Not a major breakthrough, But I've been wondering about cutting a plastic soda bottle top (cap end) to the same diameter as a golf ball (or the barrel),
Then Run a wood or drywall screw through the cap center and into the GB.
The plastic could be filled with "great stuff" or similar foam maybe.

Seems like it would make a great diabolo shape and some 20 ounce plastic sodas have an inverted top. (curves inward, then out)

Too bad I have no Golf ball shooter or even a 2 incher to test it. Sad

BTW, other than that in this hemisphere, geese/ducks are starting to shed winter plummage and the ponds are covered in feathers, Maybe a hole could be drilled in the GB and a feathers tail glued in for better accuracy(?) Cool

Also if you have a tractor supply nearby, they sell toughballs for dogs, they're exacly the size and look like tennis balls but are considerably heavier(though not solid)...

c cell batteries fit pretty nice in 1 inch barrels.

also to expand on the dowel idea, drill out the center of the dowel and use a washer on the back end, use a bolt that extends slightly through the top set another washer and screw on one of those spikes they sell at shops like hot topic (insurt shudder here) and the like. to increase stabilty you can add some frayed cloth or the like between the base washer and the dowel.

Photos will be posted later.

I finaly made a 1/2 inch barrel over 6 feet long for the marshmallow cannon and loaded some nails using a paper towel salbot. The 6 penny nails sank into a 2 X 4 all the way with the heads countersunk over 1/4 inch. Finish brads would have gone all the way through. Shocked All the shots were under 100 PSI. I need to pick up some much larger nails. Very Happy

I have some dead AA batteries to test next.

Muzzle blast control coupled with short distance. It's the only way I could hit the broad side of a 2 X 4. Very Happy
