Tie a piece of rope to the head of the nail. It will be dragged behind the projectile, and act as a tail, keeping it straight.

I promised damage pictures. Here they are.

I made a longer 1 inch barrel and test fired a lemonhead candy into an old log. Someone suggested AA batteries with the 1/2 inch barrel. Results are in. Very Happy

Lemonheads are small enough to use the modified ball valve breech loader. They have some rattle room. Jawbreakers have to be hand picked as some are too big to fit muzzle loading. Some roll in, some require a ramrod.

I just came in from more fun.

Used a longer barrel and tried to put another jawbreaker through the 2 X 4.

edit, added zoom of impact damage.

I just realized that...

PC GUY BROKE THE RULES!!!!

4. Make a smoke bomb inside a spud, and have a long fuse sticking out of the back, light it, shove it in your barrel, and shoot. The fuse MAY go out, so use the bigget, greenest, thicktst Vicso safety fuse, so it doesn't go out. And if you use a combustion cannon, you don't have to light the fuse, it will light when you fire it!
HOW TO MAKE SMOKE BOMBS
BIG GREEN VISCO SAFETY FUSE...

IDK if that was against the rules at that time of the post, but the post should probably be edited so that the rules are taken seriously.

I was playing with some 3/4 inch jawbreakers today and got some interesting results. At 50 PSI they will go through a bottle of water, but at 80-90 PSI they fragment and don't exit anymore. Obligatory damage photos attached. The cannon is the Marshmallow Cannon with a 5 foot long 3/4 inch PVC barrel.

My guess is yes... Execialy since their is orange liquid in the bottom of one, where a fragment of an orange jawbreaker dissolved in the water.
I command you to: Yawn!
Just a guess though.

Yes, they were refilled full of water.

I know its possible but I wonder if someone could make a gun so powerful that a jawbreaker would vaporize when it hits water head on. like just a flat surface of water. that would be a wicked gun

I know it leaves a dust cloud when I shoot rocks. I'll find out tomorrow.

Results are in. At 90 PSI they don't vaporise. Most of the time they are not undamaged. At higher speed I am sure that vaporization is possible.

These have an unusual damage pattern. I fired 4 into a 5 gallon bucket of water. One fragmented, 2 lost a chunk off one side, and 1 remained intact. Each shot produced a shock wave that removed about a gallon of water from the bucket, so the bucket needed refilling between shots. The bucket was not damaged.

If anyone has a high speed video camera they would loan I would like to get video of one of these hitting water to watch it fragment. A proper shield to keep the camera dry will be provided. Anybody in the Pacific NW have one?

The test conditions were Marshmallow Cannon for the valve and chamber, 3/4 inch PVC barrel was made 48 inches long as I am not tall enough for a longer barrel. Bucket is a 5 gallon HDPE plastic bucket filled to a couple inches of the rim. End of barrel was about 1 foot from the surface. Yes I did get soaked. Jawbreakers were purchased from Winco Foods in the bulk foods section. The wrapper was left on them to keep them from falling out of the barrel. No other sabot was used.

that is really cool. you sure it wasnt the bottom of the bucket doing the damage to the jaw breaker?

o.k. i didn't look all 18 page of this thread so if this has been thought of before just excuse it.

this is a cheap ammo that gets good distance and when it hits something its pretty cool too.

materials: flour, coffee filters and tape/string.

so pretty much you pour some flour in the coffee filter and tie it up
depending on how powerful you cannon is you can use 1 to 3 coffee filters. your bore size will also determine how much flour you use.

and there you have it.
