It's these sort of things that bother me, that should be a hex-bolt 
Details, I know, but I prefer to fork out more for a quality rifle. |

Why do you feel the need to steal PyramydAir's bandwidth?
That was the prototype gauge on one of the first guns he received. That's not the gauge they use on the production guns.
EDIT: I see your text now. That bolt, if the gun is anything like their other Benjamin models, mounts the entire action to the stock. They make it phillips so anybody can get at the internals. If they were concerned about consistency, they would actually make that a hex bolt, yes, so that you could use a torque wrench to tighten to a consistent torque setting. |

| If you want a rifle that works, that's not really an issue, but I look at my rifles - maybe not the cheaper Russian ones, but the British Daystate and Swedish Monsoon and German Weihrauchs certainly - as examples of quality engineering, where the slightly more expensive but more integral solution is worth paying extra for. |

Okay, so say I bought an FX Typhoon. Standard bolt-action model, not too fancy, etc...
So, my $700 rifle comes in the mail. Now what? I have to buy an HPA pump before I can shoot it. Tack on another 200 dollars or so.
By that point, I could have bought a Ruger 10/22, synthetic target stock, bull free-floated barrel, and Simmons mil target scope, for about the same price, with a few hours of machinist/gunsmith work tacked on. And 0.22 rounds are cheap. I live in the U.S., so I don't even need a license to use this thing outside of hunting (in which case I do need a license).
My point is that I'm not enough of an airgun enthusiast to spend over a grand per airgun on. Maybe later, but not now. Therefore, the Discovery is the perfect rifle.
Not saying anything bad. Believe me, the higher priced PCP's make my dream at night about having several HPA tanks, fill adaptors, and expensive European rifles to shoot all day long, but at some point I have to separate dreams from reality. I don't make enough money in school to pay for such a thing. It's a one-time deal, because I can never keep more than 500 dollars or so on hand. Between insurance, gas, and future school fees, there's no way. It just so happens that, for some reason, the moon, stars, and galaxies aligned in some perfect way this week, that I suddenly wind up with $440 dollars to spend. I'm not going to kid myself and say that money is going to last and I can maybe save more, it's just not going to happen.
So, for now, it's back to working on my 1377 modifications, (which I just received my parts for). Then, when mah mulah gets in, I'm ordering the Discovery. |

I only invest in them because I can afford it, and because there isn't much point in investing in centrefire firearms in the urban area i reside in. i'm not saying you should do the same, by all means. I'm just saying it isn't what I'd go for, but if it works for you, why not  |

Well... my debit card is about $498.00 dollars lighter now. 
0.22 Discovery and a CenterPoint 6x32 scope with the rings to mount the scope.
I've got to wait until April 18th before they can ship it though. Three days after that, though, and the package is guaranteed through the door.
Jack, you might be rich enough to blow a grand on an air rifle, but I'm gonna be living off microwave burritos and Pina Colada soda, (hey, food off the "Mexican Aisle" is cheap), and school lunches for the rest of the school year! |

When I was your age, still a student, I blew my entire earnings from several months working part time at Burger King on my HW45. As you get older and the paycheques start to roll in it becomes less of a big deal |

When I start working over the summer (WAY more hours) I'll start earning the type of money required to do something like that.
BUT, that money also needs to be saved for expenses in university next year, so still no dice.
We'll all see whether it was a good investment or not when the rifle comes in on April 21st... |
