Well, I gave it a go, it gave one big *whoomph* then for some reason the piston seal broke Rolling Eyes There seem to be some alignment issues, but I've seen enough to inspire me to make another one, properly and calmly this time Smile

hey, have you ever ripped apart one of those automatic NERF guns???

those have a system that might suit your needs better than ANYHING youve made so far.

baiscally, the whole system slides foward like 10 inches, then gives a burst of air, then returns. and all this at like 20 RPS.

i have a mechanism that i used in a failed automatic airsoft gun, because, well, it sure shot nice (yeah, 20 RPS is AWSOME... lol) but the veolocity was only 200 FPS due to the low-volume of the air coming out, as, well, it was intended for nerf guns.

if you want, ill rip one apart and see how it works, and post it. knowing you, its nothing you cant make out of epoxy.........

If you go over to nefhaven and read up in the mods and homeades sections, look for forsaken angel's, cartoonman, and boltsniper's works, youl see some some realy amazing machining and innovation. Nerf and spudding are quite different but both have simple concepts and both have very complex ones. I bet spudding could learn something from nerfing, because in nerf modding/building it's mostly about ROF. Power is normally a second priority. A nerf gun powered by a QEV would be amazing. Or a burst disk nerf, or a clip fed(easy to make) potato gun.

sounds interesting... I'll look for a diagram to spare you the trouble Wink

Right now I'm working on another variation of the piston design, I'll post details shortly.

Why not, I see the xmas holiday as a break from work and precious time for my other joys in life, not a break from absolutely everything.

Amen JSR! My family doesn't understand why I've been working from 7am to 10pm in near zero temps to get my workshop sheetrocked (and FINALLY ready to be heated!)...it's the longest break I get every year, and I'll be damned if I'm going to sit on my arse and do nothing! I'll have something to show for my "vacation" when I'm done!

Wink
