Okie dokie, i bought an automatic inline valve, in an attempt to make a pneumatic cannon. I want to control the valve only by means of electricity.. I don't like the idea of modifying it. Plus, I love electronics and such. When i got the valve home i tried it. Well, i hooked batteries up to the two wires. I ran 18 volts into the valve and i distinctly heard a click from the solenoid(even took it out to make sure) the only thing i noticed is that the valve didn't actually open.. SO here is my question. Did i do something wrong? Or is the pressure (air/water) make the valve open? I don't really know, since this is the first time i am going to build a cannon with an automatic valve... possibly i got the wrong valve. Please help me out, I know someone will.
BTW- the valve is an Orbit 91100 (1")

| it is the pressure that makes the valve open, you should be running it on about 27 volts, too bad you dont want to mod it, extra power with modding

| Thanks Spuds, well... its my first cannon w/ automatic valve. I wanna see what an automatic valve is like versus a modded automatic valve. I make a fair amount of money and don't spend much, and summer is here(i am a student with a lot of time on my hands) Next gun will be modded.

| You could leave it half modded - keep the solinoid in. That way, you can fire it both ways.

| It's not hard to do at all. If you search around the How-To section here there are some detailed instructions on how to mod the valve. Just leave the solenoid (the little black thing with wires) in insted of taking it out.

| its not hard at all, you just leave the solenoid in instead of filling the hole with epoxy, and it wont cause a loss in performance, it will just give you the ability to fire it electronically or pneumatically (good idea if your batteries die)
