Sadly the man seems to have an aversion to sleeves, even though they remove the need for a locking mechanism...

blow-back has potential... the only problem is that BTB insists on getting it to work with the delayed blow-back instead of getting it to work at all

What about an integrated blow forward and suppressor? Kill two birds with one stone (unless you are going for noise and recoil, which most people seem to be doing on smaller cannons...) I mean, that diagram is already pretty much a suppressor, just one that moves with air.
I guess the trick would be to keep the volume low enough (at least to start) to keep the pressure high enough (again, at least to start) to actually slide the sleeve.

As I've stated ad nauseum, that's what the FX does Razz

Keep at it boys!

Very Happy

My scooter is nearly finished.
I have a neighbour down the block that restaures old motorcycles.
I'm talking 1907-no parts available.
He builds frames from scratch!
And those were not just pipes..

I've seen his incredible stuff.
Truely complex shapes such as a crownplate with oval holes through it..all steel, but he can hardsolder too. An artist.

He straightened out the crownplate of my scooter ( front forks) like it was nothing.
100% straight... (Don't go there Jack!)
Took out all the tension.
So that project was done pretty quick and won't take up any more of my time..

This man has everything a spudder could ever need.
Lathe, mill, drill press, welders, you name it.

I gave him more tip than the original amount he charged me...
He said I could come back if I ever needed any work done...first job would be free of charge...

That was AFTER I told him about my hobby..
He said he'd love to see Old Shatterhand...

So...I guess I'll take him up on that offer...
Oh...and...as my scooter was considered to be a " totall loss" by the insurance....I get to spend the extra cash...on a lathe...

Very Happy

Well, if you are inventive and/or have access to a machine shop, I could definitely see someone combining this blow-back mechanism and bolt with a slide-valve to pilot the gun, something like this:

a bit much dead space and where does does that design use blow back,
on top of that Brian's current design pushes the ammo directly over the valve opening to minimize dead space

Muhahaha...
Nice scooter there...
Damnit..I have been thinking of hiding a bbmg in there just cause I can..
But what if I get pulled over...And they confiscate the thing...one day.

I've already tinkered with the engine to make it go 75% faster than it is allowed to..
( Yes...same stupid laws again)

There is a remote chance of me getting caught...but still...
Very Happy

Oh well...The ram doesn't seem to be the problem.
It's the QD. I need the ballbearing kind.
This one intensifies it's grip under pressure.

I'll lathe the boltlock myself when I get the chance..and get it up and running.I've fooled around with this for far too long.
There are too many flaws in it.Friction on the ram, hard to knock open bolt..loose fit ammo, forked up barrel from refitting everything time after time..

The system works if the boltlock works...basically what Al-xg did.
He had a smooth boltlock.

So..this project is on hold untill I can lathe the parts I need to make it work.
I don't feel like solving things in a different way as I know this is workable.

Just go to home depot and BUY one, then. I always get a ton of QD's every time I go, I never seem to have enough of them.

Unless of course there are no home depots where you are. Seems like one easy issue to fix.

You can get ones which move a sliding bit of metal to grip a collar on the male neck.

I like that QD thing on it... but who said it needs that air ram where it is ?? if the ram has to open the QD first and than the QD has to open too this means that there will be some delay caused by inertia

ohh btw I found this yesterday

it's a working model of m16 rifle created in algodoo... it is both semi auto and full auto (and yeah you change between the two by switching the select fire lever) you can download it here http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/index.php?page=3

I wish algodoo could simulate gases Rolling Eyes
