JSR tends to build on the smaller side, but for those of you with the benefit of land over which to shoot, why not

Not sure yet. I'd love to but I don't really have the space to shoot it (I live in the suburbs). I could take it to a local park I suppose...
Four feet would cost me $86 shipped to where I live. That's manageable but I'm trying to think how often I'd actually get out and shoot it

| Maybe you should also add to the equasion how many shots will you get out of each basketball and how many are you willing to buy?

Good point. I wonder how many shots a basketball could take out of a cannon like this?
If I were to build build this, I'd also have to figure out a way to plug one end of it. Since a 10" cap costs several hundred dollars, I'd probably use concrete to cast a base around the pipe, which would make the cannon even harder to transport.

| You could build a plug out of wood and seal it with silocone/epoxy/simular and screws to help hold it in.

| I have some plastic sewer pipe sections. 10" PVC 2ft sections, two of them but can get up to 10 for free. I live in UK so a cannon like this would be illegal unfortunately, far too dangerous as the tube is only 1/4" thick and my money at the moment is going in another project so dont have any spare for sealent, im literally 100yards from a field too. I would have made one a few years ago when I never thought of the danger,

10" SCH40....
A quick calculation, comparing 1" sch40 to 10" sch40.
According to wikipedia:
1" SCH40
OD: 33.40 mm
Wall thickness: 3.378 mm
ID: 33.40-(2*3.378) = 26.6 mm
ID:wall ratio: 7.87
10" SCH40
OD: 273.05 mm
Wall: 9.271 mm
ID: 273.05-(2*9.271) = 254 mm
Ratio: 27.4
So the burst pressure of 10" sch40 is...
27.4/7.87=3.84
Almost 4 times LOWER than 1" sch40!
1" sch40 can be used up to, what...? 150 psi?
Then 150/4=37.5 psi
You can use this 10" pipe only up to ~40 psi.
You NEED SCH80 for a simple combustion.
EDIT:
Or metal pipe.
