BASKETBALL CANNON

Provided By - DR

For ease of handling, the Chamber portion of the 10" C-900 pipe on this one is only 34" long. The Barrel portion of the pipe is 48" long.- (not including the belled end) This will give me an approximate 0.7:1 ratio.

The I.D. of the 10" pipe is approx. 25cm (9.8425"). - 2,586.9 cubic inches!! -It falls short of my first one which had a chamber volume of 3,195.5 cubic inches.

I'm thinking of buyind a mattress inflator/deflator to vent the Chamber, because the cast-iron end cap will be bolted on.

If anyone has any better ideas on how to vent 6,500 cubic inches of pipe, I would be very grateful!

I should have this ready yo fire by tomorrow evening, but I'll definitely have it readt for the weekend. The hardest part of the whole build was trying to cut the end of the pipe evenly. (all by hand with a miter saw) The flared end was cut with a jigsaw, and finished by hand.

Bolt: 3/4" x 4-1/2" T-bolt These bolts had to be torqued to 75 ft. lbs. I started at 20, and worked my way up in 5lb. increments. The bolts had to be torqued in a clockwise pattern. - what a workout!

Buisness End: 1/2" diameter holes were drilled 120 degrees apart, so that launcher could be tied to the ground like a tent-pole. I used about 16 feet of 5/16" dia. Nylon rope for each hole. - So far, my only plan is to launch in a vertical position, so these will suffice. - If this end-cap works well, I'll simply make a support to rest the barrel end on, so that I can launch at different angles as well. The rope could then be used to keep the barrel from jumping when fired. - This whole assembly is pretty heavy by itself though, so I don't think that recoil will be a problem!

There is a fan called the tornado that moves like 119 cubic ft of air a min.

Does that seriously heave a basketball a consideringly great amount of distance? I'd love to see it. It seems as the basketball would be way too heavy to even go 5 feet...Well, it all depends on the fuel you use. Cool!

he uses metered propane, and a basket ball wouldnt be that heavy, and remember you're talking to DR, the master hybrid man, i believe he's said he shot a bean can full of concrete through a block wall out of his 4" hybrid before
