I've had this thing together for about 6 months, but had recently taken the valve off for part of my contest gun. I got another valve a few days ago and put it together today.

The tank is an old water tank which is 16"x 48", and the barrel is two sections of 1" steel well pipe.

I only got to fire it once today, but I have included pictures damage from last year. today I just fired a piece of pipe at a slab of steel to clean the dirt out of the barrel.

I doubt its as powerful as the swat gun, but the price was right ($15 for fittings and valve lol)

The forcast in ohio is finaly warm this weekend, so hopefully I'll get to have some fun for the next couple days.
Give me ideas of what I should shoot! Very Happy

Very nice cannon! Usually, I would rant about the ball valve, but considering that you have a huge chamber and barrel, I honestly feel that if you used a QEV or sprinkler valve, you would only be decreasing performance.

Once again, very unique design... I really enjoyed seeing this gun!

DAMN thats powerful........... the projectile even heated up......... WOW. i think you should make a high-pressure piston valve for that thing, and pressurize it to like 1000 PSI........ it would be like the Small Bore Swat Gun. What PSI do you fire it at?

The shot today was only at 80 psi.
There is NO WAY I would put 1000 psi in that thing Smile
Tanks like that normaly only use about 60psi, but this one is tested to 200.

crap that thing is big. I've always wondered what would happen to a Barbie doll travelling at high velocity. Please shoot one and let me know.

Why, yes. That certainly is very big and ghetto. Have you tried making cannonballs for this cannon yet. It certainly would be rich to see the damage of that considering what you did with that pipe. Kudos to you.

I did that once.... or twice...

It went through several sheets of 3/4 inch plywood, but the barbie ended up in lots of little pieces.
the hair was ripped off, and the face was mutilated and torn.

So is there hang time from when you open the valve and when the projectile leaves the barrel?

Not much, but it depends a little on the projectile weight. maybe 1/2 a second at the most.

Here are a couple damage shots I did over the weekend. I took videos too, but right now I dont have a fast enough connection to upload them.
In addition to the pictures below, I shot 3 gallon jugs lined up and filled with water. The projectile never even noticed they were there, and continued on its path to rip trenches into my yard.

I had part of an old satalite dish which looked like a prime target.
This thing probably weighs 20-30 pounds, and was thrown back about 5 feet from impact.
This picture gives a better look of the depth of the dent than the second.

the second shot almost went through .25 inch steel. It probably would have had I used more than 60 psi.
