edit: $100 + shipping is very tempting, 1" qevs in the uk are ~ £80 which is $160 dollars so £50 for a 1.5" is a good deal although as i said above i would have thread problems |
Sorry to make your day but NPT and BSP are 100% compatable.
Need to get that across more often, there are still many, many unbelievers out there who don't know what they're missing out on. |

| What? Since when? BSP is a tapered thread? You sure about that MrCrowley? Uncovering things that are sacred again or what? |

Haha trust me, i'm not riding my white horse and nothing is wrong with my head
I bought a bunch of PVC and metal fittings from America and used them back here in NZ with BSP fittings. Also a few reports from Aussie members saying they work and my Dad's old hardware store stocked some Sch40 American PVC fittings.
I haven't had any leaks with metal fittings when i've used teflon tape, though the galv fittings never thread all the way down like brass fittings. But that's with most galv fitting, NPT or BSP.
Edit:
Mix of NPT and BSP fittings, that 3-way angled fitting on the back is BSP, the 20mm nipples are NPT, 20mmx15mm reducer is BSP, all the brass fittings and guage and schrader are NPT except for the small brass tee.
BSP ball valve with a NPT 15mm 90* elbow with a 20mmx15mm BSP reducer connected to that BSP 3-way fitting. On the barrel the painted black brass fitting is BSP which is connected to a NPT nipple which is connected to a BSP reducer which is connected to an American QEV.
When I say 20mm and 15mm NPT I mean 3/4" and 1/2" NPT, just easier to type in metric. |

| Well there you go. So you gonna buy that valve? I'm thinking about it but he says he only ships within the US. |

This is when your own shipping account comes in handy. You can pay your seller cost, then when seller has item ready for ship you call in a pick up. Cost a little more but no one else makes money on shipping charges, and you can have it shipped anywhere! DHL, UPS and FED-suX. |

HEre it is in the mostly assembled form. This was mainly a Test fit to make sure everything went together properly and get the demisions so we could build the support base for it.
What you dont see. Is most of the pluming system, The loading system, and the Cocking system.
I have the plumbing system to trigger the valves.
IM waiting on my 8 feet of 3/4" angle aluminum to build the loader.
And the metal for the blocks is coming with the other then i have to get the blocks flow jetted.
The piece between to 2 Flanges is going to be the Breach i just have to Dremel out the material.
The chamber is 11" of 3" pvc with the Fittings and the T at the end i figure Chamber volume is around 100" inches. The reason you see Two Valves in the picture is because Recharge is important. They are offset Phase and one charges the chamber when the other is not Firing. My design goal was for 4 Shots per second. The loading system should be able to do that, but the cannon should actually be able to fire >15 shots per second.
Both the Asco Valves are Trigger by a 1/8 QEV of which is piloted by a 4 Way Solenoid.
All of the actuators are piloted by QEVS, and piloted by 2x 4 way solenoids.
So total for the system
3x Regulators
8x 1/8th QEV
2x 1.5 Asco Pule Valves
3x 1/8th 4 Way Mac Solenoids 24v 5.4 watts
1x Custom Electronics Controller
4" Pipe
3" Pipe
2" pipe
2.5" pipe
3/4" pipe
3 Guages
Operating pressure should be a hair below, 65 PSI. For a nerf at 250 FPS. |
