Okay hello all, I have designed a butane injection system for my mini. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, Spudthug, I know you designed a butane injection, tell me what you think of this will you?

Basically how it works is this. A butane canister has a hose attached to nozzle, and that hose is glued not into the needle holder part, but the area around it. A needle or something similar is put into that needle part, and JBWelded into place. I would then JBWeld the needle into the chamber. So to load it you would just press down on the nozzle of the butane can until the syringe fills up to desired amount, then push the plunger down to inject the butane

But my question is this: When I fire it, is there a possibility of somehow, the combustion working its way up the needle (unlikely but possible), then somehow into the hose and into the butane can, possibly blowing that up?? it does not seem very likely at all, but I just want to take all the safety measures that I can. So post your advice and comments, thanks. Here's the diagram, you'll have to expand it to fully see it sorry.

No.

The bore of the needle is way too small for a flame to travel down

Okay thanks, I'll try and assemble it this weekend and let you guys know, but first I have to get the mini to actually fire Embarassed

K UPDATE/EDIT: I don't have a needle that will fit into my syringe. So I now need to know if a flame from the combustion will travel up the hole of the syringe. The hole is 3/32" thick. Would a flame travel up that hole?????????

anyone else have input on the system?????

if id does, what's the worse that could happen, the syringe's piston popping out?!
Butane is very sensitive to air/fuel ratio; there's no way it could ignite at that concentration anyway.

Nah me thinks the pressure in the can would not let it, also it has never happened before that i know of.

Your systems sounds about the same as linky #1 and linky #2.

What exactly do you think would happen if the flame did propagate back to the butane can?

What are the two things that are required for combustion?

Are those two things present inside the butane can?

Besides, you still have the butane can's valve between your chamber and the butane don't you? (The link to your diagram doesn't work.)
