Fellas, I want to upgrade my hybrid. Most of the upgrades are pretty basic but there is one upgrade I would like to do that I'm not too familiar with. That is upgraded the union to a cam lock system.
I have access to aluminum cam locks. The question is (1) will the cam locks hold pressure like the union will (assuming 10x) and (2) are they strong enough to support the pressure?
Another (off topic) question. My hybrid is currently 2" x 12" (I plan on making a larger chamber) steel chamber with 1" union. If I put a golf ball barrel on this, will the shot be affected by the choke of the union? If so, will it be negative or positive? |

As far as I have heard, cam locks are usually lower rated then unnions.
Though there may be superstrong cam locks around, most of em will be weaker then unions of the same type.
When your union is smaller in diameter then your barrel, then yes, it is a choke, but when the difference is not that big I think it doesn matter really much, until the gasses flowing trough the union have to reach their sonic speed to flow. |

planning on 10x? NICE!
cam locks are not fine for 10x as steel ones are rated to 250psi..

| Thanks, guys. I was thinking that they wouldn't be able to support, but was not sure. Is there another alternative to using a union? |
