a few weeks ago I downloaded chairgun... and I think that it might be quite useful for any spudder

it's a ballistic calculator for airguns... IHMO it's much better than the one included in GGDT

you can download it here -> http://www.chairgun.com/offset/chairgun2.htm

one of the nicest feature of it is an ability to compare up to 3 different projectiles

in the pic below I compared 3 different projectiles as far as their energy retention is concerned... (cd value is roughly 0.4 as they are all spherical projectiles

blue one - 16mm marble 5g
red one - 9.65mm steel bearing 3.5g
the green one 9.65mm lead ball 5g
seems pretty informative doesn't it ??

Good stuff :) I've had chairgun for ages but never really used it.

Is the distance in metres?

Interesting to note that a marble would have only 10% of its original muzzle energy at 100 of whatever those distance units are.

Chairgun has very tight restrictions, and isn't really suitable for most spudding purposes - it won't accept projectiles of more than 8 grams, and will only do target shooting trajectories.

Hopefully, the LRC will eventually be able to do this sort of thing - any kind of shooting a spudgunner might expect to do, I hope to be able to deal with it.
At least, it might be capable of these things when I stop trying to break it with improvements and find time in amongst the dozens of other projects I seem to have encumbered myself with:

Art; an armoury for a Sci-Fi tabletop game; Cannon building; Modifying gaming controllers; tuning my air rifle; ballistics calculators...

It's a lot for one person to do, even one as awesome as me.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

yeah I forgot to mention that... actually for the version I am using 5 gram is max
I am trying to find some way to use heavier ammo with this program but so far with no luck

@jsr
yes the distance is in meters... the interesting thing about the graph I put above is that muzzle energy is completely irrelevant here (it draws the same graph when muzzle energy is 16J and 80 J; it's all about ammo used)

I've noticed that marbles lose their velocity quite fast but It happens to a greater extend than I though... notice that I put the muzzle energy for a marble at 100j and 50j for 9.6mm ammo
