Yes but it will probably burn out eventually. I think you would be pretty safe though. Why not just one 9v and 2 AAs?

Why would the fan burn out any sooner on 12v than 16v if the fan is rated for 18v.

I usually run my fans 1/2 voltage-to try to have the bearings last a little longer.

They run slower but seem to atomize just fine.

Personally I have fried fans with 2 9v batteries. But since other SpudTech people swear by it I'll let that go and say it should be fine.
