this one was kinda hard to make, but i have made them before, they were for nerf though. i made it with ZERO o rings, just electric tape. the plunger rod is pluminum, and the head is e-tape. barrel is aluminum and the chamber is a sch 80 riser, and the brushing is the end of a crayola marker. it fits inside of the 1/2 pvc great, and the 6mm aluminum does too. if you have any questions or comments, post em here. the firing pin is a bent nail.

It'll take a bit more than that to convince me that springers are really worth the effort...

Just wondering, can you mod this http://boltsniper.com/submitted/Carbon/Snap-1/SNAP1.html to shoot bbs or pellets?

I dont see why you couldnt mod it but it probably wouldnt be worth it to get it to mod it would be a lot cheaper if you made yourself

and blind909 it looks pretty good so far although the power is not overly impressive it is something (better than my first springer)
but now I am up to 500fps+ with my springers but they have all seem to break after a week or two of constant useing. Probably because of parts that cannot stand the force of the powerful springs I use.

yes, you can modify the snap, pm carbon, the maker at nerfhaven, all you need to do is make one, and instead of a 9/16th of an inch barrel, go with a 6 mm one, i have also made one just like that one, just never posted it anywhere, and thanks for all the feedback.

is 600+ feet per second even possible for a homemade springer? would it have to be bigger? small diameter pipe, long spring and barrel?

A wider piston would certainly help your cause, use the strongest spring you can find and have some sort of o-ring or similar in the breech to hold the projectile until the pressure builds up beding it, so it pops out like a champagne cork Smile

With springers, longer barrel doesn't always equal more power - the barrel volume must definitely be less than the swept volume of the piston.

A good source for a powerful spring are these automatic door openers in which they electricly set of a spring which forces the door open.
They are great for extremely lazy people. They cost about $20 give or take which is Quite expencive because its purpose will be to take the spring and leave all the electronics which make up half its cost.
but that is how I reached 500+fps.
ill try to post a link to a example of an automatic door opener.
And it also needs to be the right type of door opener it cant be the ones that have a hinge whith opens it has to be one of that you mount straight on the door that opens it with the spring as explained earlier.

Hey, I just so happen to have a screen door spring/tube! It might be just what I need to build a small springer! I'd thought of building one but I didn't know what kind of power I'd get.

The power you will get will depend on the strength of the spring inside the door openers. Generaly the more expencive the brand of door opener the stronger the spring but there are cheap brands with relitively strong springs.I just had an expensive one laying around In our garage amd I got 500fps with it(very rough estamate found by timeing the amount of time it took to get to a certain point and repeating with a real airsoft gun which we already new the fps of and then doing a bunch of math)
