Even junky little pump airguns make a nice CRACK when they fire. we make things that go WHOOOBAMMMWHOOOSHHH

| Indeed, a truly quiet pneumatic would have a very long barrel and large suppressor volume, as well as a low chamber:barrel volume ratio - a bit like the Hastings metro gun system. |

Yeah but you can still build a spudgun with, let say, 120 cm barrel that has threaded muzzle and/or small holes drilled on last 15 cm of the barrel; adjustable chamber
(with a ball valve between the two sections
40 cm -------- a BV --------- 60 cm )
You have a 'regular' spudgun, but when you want to make it silent you just close the valve and add a silencer. |

i could be wrong, but i think the sound you hear in the movies is mostly the bolt rather than the boom.
its a nice supressor by the way |

The muzzle crack is practically eliminated but there's still the noise of the hammer slamming into the valve and subsequent spring twang. This is inevitable with high powered air rifles, although the Career in question is adjustable and at around 15 ft/lbs is much more silent.

When firing subsonic ammunition such as the 22LR or 45ACP as shown here, the muzzle noise is almost entirely eliminated and the only noise you can hear is the "click" of the firing pin and noise of the mechanism cycling. A suppressed bolt action rifle firing subsonic ammunition has even less mechanical noise. |

If your projectile is subsonic then that shouldn't be an issue. The only way I get projectile noise is from richochets off a hard target, and of course the noise of the projectile hitting the target itself. |

| I currently lack a camera that records sound but I'll see if my client will make one for me. Some time in the next two weeks though as I'm still waiting for the threaded adapter from the machine shop. |

im probably going to make one similar to this, case it in 1" pipe.. i dont have washers and im too tight to buy them so would it be possible for me to use another disc of metal(20c piece:D about .5mm off the ID of 1") this might be tricky though because ive got to line the holes up and im not that mich of a good driller, although i could use a centre punch.
anyone know an easy way to find the centre of a coin? |

lol! thats a good idea but ill have to have a look at the hardware store.. not to sure on there range of washers
most of the washers have a 6 or 7mm dia hole in them already.. i would just have to make it a little bit bigger. |

| my dad has a funky hunk of metal that is used for finding the centers of dowels. im not sure how much it cost (im pretty sure ALOT) but it has worked perfectly for centering things on our lathe........ |
