I did a little bit of combined gas laws to figure out that you will be able to pump in approximately 34.5 PSI into the compression chamber before it starts to put water into your hybrid combustion chamber. This means you can get a little over a 3x mix... so a success!
Like I said before, nice hybrid. Your lucky to have such a plentiful source of ammo... and snacks |

Wow, there sure are a lot of hybrids being posted lately. I really need to finish mine and upload some videos.
You seem to be really good at making clean, uncluttered hybrids. I would give it a nice coat of paint and maybe make a custom wood stock if you're planning on holding it.
I wish potatoes grew on trees. Get a bathtub and make large amounts of applesauce.
I am also amazed that you have parents that understand the concept of "mixes". My mom probably thinks I'm making pancakes when I talk about a 4x mix. |

Rmich, that's good to know. I'll probably take it to that "little bit over 3x" anyway.
Sjog, I certainly don't! Their only use is as ammo, they taste like crap.
Fnord, you may call my hybrid clean and uncluttered, but they're only uncluttered because I built them as cheaply as I can safely. Building a hybrid, then a diaphragm paintball pistol, then another hybrid all nonstop pretty much drained my wallet. Oh well, I don't usually spend cash on anything else (except for spuds).
I also don't plan on holding it; I want to get a remote ignition setup made. I have 15 foot wires for the BBQ ignitor, and it can still produce a 1/4" spark at that distance. I'll see if it can make a spark at that distance through a pressurized container. I'm also planning on getting some of those 2" metal rings that are used for attaching pipe to walls, and mounting the gun to a 2x4.
My parents took a ton of explaining also, and they think that when I buy Sch 80 pipe it means I want to use solid propellants, not just to be safe. |

haha. solid rocket propellants dont fare well in plastic. even black powder and stuff doesnt.....
anyway, im suprised i dont see very many handheld metal hybrids, even mini hybrids. i know if my parents would let me, i would build a .177 cal hybrid, and whoop the butt off of my friends 500 dollar air rifle with my 200 dollar hybrid................. i gotta say i would NEVER hold a plastic hybrid......... a metal hybrid i might..........
of course, i still like that cannon alot. have fun......... |

| I know I sound really stupid asking this, but what is the difference between a Gen II and a Gen I hybrid? |

one works the other doesnt.
its all in the fueling method.
mine is a gen. 1 (doh!) it uses a meter like a combustion and is nearly impossible to get right. |

it seems to me (correct me if im wrong) that a generation 2 hybrid uses a seperate chamber that is injected with 4X propane, mixed with 4X air, and then injected into the cannon body itself. then the other tank is removed and BOOOOOMMMMMM your cannon goes off when you pull the trigger........
at least thats the only way i can think of it...../ |

This launcher looks great, but might I suggest remote ignition? I am afraid to stand within 50 feet of my hybrid when firing it with a 5x mix.

You must not have done a fluid volume measurement on your chamber and meter, or miscalculated something, because my generation 1 4-5x hybrid cannon with a 12 cubic inch chamber fires every time. |

I am all for safety... but isn't your cannon constructed from all metal parts, including the barrel? The only possible risk would be the burst disk blowing apart the barrel, and I doubt this would happen because it is made of copper.
But hey, safety is always good... I am just not sure whether that is excessive or not. |

| Yes, my gun is all metal, but after having my advanced combustion cannon explode in my hands and burn me, I am terribly paranoid. |
