Well my friend is going to be hosting a huge airsoft war this month, and he asked me if I could think of something to help protect the base. I decided that a smokescreen-like thing would be pretty cool, and I also decided that shooting it out of my pneumatic would be overkill, since I would be using a bike pump the whole game.
Then the idea that made me do a little dance was this: What if I made a cloud that could shoot flour? I could use a hose, like this so I don't mess up my blowgun with flour falling into it. My friend has a portable-ish compressor, so I may be able to use that.
What do you think? |

| I think it might spray flour, but only about 5 feet maximum, if it DID work. Try it, if it doesn't work, you still have a fine BBMG. |

Well, a combustion would be easier than pneumatic for something like that. But, then you have the risk of accidently making a FAE (fuel air explosion).
Otherwise, if you could make a few piston valves and make little mortars. That would probably work good. It shouldn't take too much air to disperse the flour. |

| Maby you could use a sand blaster hose and nozzel? They use alot of air though, why not make smoke bombs and have a real smoke screen. |

I'd love to see some stubby dug in cannons being used for smoke screen deployment.
Rigged with an electric control box to fire together to make a leaping wall of smoke
I think the bbmg type thing could work as long as the wind isn't blowing at you (breathing airborne flour), might need a shake every now and again to keep the flour mixing with the airstream. |

| Actually thats a great idea I think. Just have a small hand held electric fan in the end of a piece of 2" pipe and have some kinda controlled hopper that drops flour when you push a button. |

| i like the mortar idea, why not using the ''portable-is'' tho load mortars, just 2 ppl using it, ive been in a airsoft war, i made 2 mortars to shoot lots of bbs in the air, u should put some flour in bounty and wrap it, witha 2inch barrel shoot 3 or 4 shots in 30secs. realy works. |

why not make a bbmg that shoots flour and bbs at the same time it would look pretty trippy having a smoke screen with bbs flying out of it |

I've thought about shooting flour for the flame/explosion like Pyrogeek says. Wood ash would also send up a "safe" cloud.
You don't have to worry about getting powder in side the gun by using
a wad like a black powder gun.
I filled a shot gun shell with ash , it put a 6' trail of dust in the air.
A cup or two of powder in a pneumatic would put up quite a cloud, especialy shot into the wind.
I gotta try it! |

i reloaded a 20ga with airsoft once pattern opens to fast 3ft patterns at 20ft away eith a modified choke also went through 2 layers of cardboard and kept going. This is all AFTER i cut the amount of powder i was using in half.
point being its to dangerous to bother |

OK here's my idea.
Have a supply tank, say a 20 gallon tank and connect to a ballvalve, then to a manifold. Have barbed fittings in each port with hoses branching out to various location on your fort. Construct a simple tube, plugged and tapped to the air hoses. Fill the tubes with flour.
When you come under fire, turn the valve and flour from each charge should make a decent screen. |
