I have built many potato guns, pneumatic and combustion, but I have not built a hybrid yet. I have been reading up on it for a while now and I believe the time has come. The Gen II gun appeals to me because I do not want to have to worry about the psi being exactly right for the extra propane. The main thing I do not like about the Gen II is the lack of portability because of the water hose. Other than that I think it's a great design that has lots of potential.
I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes about the Gen II so here is my question: what do you guys thing about replacing the water tank with a tank the same size but with an air bladder in it. Like a inner tube from a lawnmower tire? Same principle but you can take a compressed air tank with you and then you can go anywhere.
You could use a T coming out the air tank with ball valve on each arm. One running to a valve stem connected to the bladder in the chamber and one piped into the chamber itself. Once you are out of room for the bladder to expand just unhook and use the chamber valve. Use it to purge the exhaust in the ignition chamber and squeeze the inner tube flat again.
I don't know if this has been discussed or is a bad idea. This is how I'm going to "try" to make my first hybrid. Let me hear your thoughts / feelings on the subject.

If I were you I would build a regular hybrid first.
They are only hard to meter if you want them to be.
You can use 2 regulators to fix your problem and you don't have to use any uneccesary pressure gauges and get a consistent shot time after time. |

| The Idea sounds really cool. You could make like a portable hybrid rifle or something but I think its too much mess arround with for such a result you know. Hybrids were never ment to be portable. I think of hybrids more of like homemade turrets. But yea I think it would work. |

I have recently finished my first Hybrid, it is very portable and only weighs about 3-4kg.
5mm thick 316 stainless for the chamber with an internal polyurethane sleeve (10mm thick). It's about 600ml in capacity, has one guage, no propane metering system (i made one but then decided i didn't want it hanging off the side of my work of art!) a ball valve+ schreder valve.
I made Nylon end plugs with an interference fit and sealed it with silicone.
It has a copper barrel with an i.d. of 23mm. (1.2 meters long, not enough i know)
I fill it using a syringe and a bike pump and use shopping bags or aluminium foil for burst discs.
Ive tested it at 1x (two shots of fuel and 15p.s.i.)
I tried to test it at 2x however i think i need a juicier spark (Me wants stun gun!)
The difference in performance from a normal combustion even at 1x is beyond belief. ( Can put a 8grm Nylon slug though .5 sheet metal at around 8-10 meters)
The reason that i haven't posted it in the forum yet is because i'm a total spastic when it comes to including photos- even after help from Chaos!
By the way Chaos, when you read this be fully aware that I BEAT YOU - That's if you haven't finished your Hybrid yet. 
I'll get my computer geek neighbour over to show me how to post pics so you will be able to see my gun for yourself, i'll put up other pics of my other guns too (Plus ammo and damage pics!)
