This is a great idea! I think I'll make a similar list that includes people who piss me off when they make grammatical errors. I'll start by adding you, noname, for your last sentence. (It's "There are quite a few people," not "There's quite a few people")

Sorry, but I just couldn't help it. It was merely a joke, but if you found it offensive, I apologize. I wouldn't want to upset an older member on my first post! Embarassed

Dont worry, Im sure he will maybe forgive you if you buy him 10' of 2", 6" and 8" PVC pipe with valves to go with it... and a video camera.
(Only joking, I think he was saying that light-heartedly, don't worry)

OH! Owndizzled!

I can deal with small grammatical or typographical errors every once in a while, however, when the errors get so bad that you can harldy tell the sentence apart from another language, someone needs to go back to school.

Agreed.
Unrelated question: is the U.S. the only country that uses "1337"?

I don't know, I wouldn't say I'm profficient in 1337, but I can use it if the situation calls for it. I do find that it makes very good passwords if you use it right.

A more correct statement would be to say that the internet is the only "country" that has (m)any... 5p3ak0r2 0f 73h (&n9u7g3 0f 1337.

But it is common courteousy not to post in leet speak on forums. And thus, I include a full translation of my post below for the unleet:

Ah crap, this is where I get into infinite recursion.

See, I want to know how many people would have understood that without the translation there. I got every word. Show of hands? Er, posts?

The basic version like I used in my above post is pretty easy to decrypt, but some versions are impossible to decrypt really.

Revised question: Do non-English speakers use "1337"? For example, have you ever seen a spanish-speaker say "51, |\/|1 |_1B|20 35 |20_|0" (Si, mi libro es rojo)?

Now that's a completely different question.

Firstly, I have to grumble (but quietly) that when you meant "English speakers", you said "The US".
Suggesting that the actual English don't speak English. Shocking.

But you're right - we of course speak a cross between Navajo, PGP and Pig Latin.

I wouldn't know the answer to the second question, but I have to say it seems fairly unlikely. But I'd be interested to know the answer

I'm not sure about Spanish, but look at Japan... their official language is pretty much 1337.

Sorry! I must unknowingly insult the British quite often. I usually associate "English" with the United States for some reason. I always seem to rush my posts and make myself look ignorant or lacking in circumspection. Sad
