Hi,

I'd love to say it was all my own work, but although the idea and some of the detail was mine I am nowhere near skilled enough to make something like this. I needed this at short notice to take to a party and the design brief was to build a (relatively) safe indoor combustion cannon that would fire non-lethal ammunition. It also need to be broken down into small sections so that it could be smuggled into a formal dinner. So, less than a week later this arrived in the post from my dad! It fires grapes out to about 130ish metres outdoors, indoors they simply explode when they hit a wall and leave a stain. Although they will punch through ceiling tiles and leave quite a bruise (unintentionally, honest).

Would love to hear what you think of this.

Wow, shiny and reliable, 2 in one deal.

No need to paint too.

You need to use different ammo than grape, and you should maybe hybridize that, but i dont know the max psi of brass.

It looks like some civil war cannon and really you do need to find a new ammo. Do you know what size barrel it is?

"Steampunk" comes to mind.

That's really the craziest thing I've seen all day (maybe all week).
It looks like some kind of grand prize trophy for a contest we might hold here Smile

Great job (whoever).

It's nice looking, although I have to say, I was thinking the cannon kind of grapeshot when I read the title.

Looks like some controls out of a old style steam powered locomotive engine. The valveing and such. Thats nice ass cannon!

Now that you have it, keep it by NOT sneeking it into any kind of socail function just to wind up in some kind of trouble giving the hobby a bad name.

Dude think about it, you don't get something this nice as easy as it sounds like you got this every day. Don't be dumb! Keep this nice peice and yourself out of trouble.

You truely have one of a kind.

I remember seeing this on the UKSGC perhaps a year or so ago, or maybe it was a similar one.

But whatever, it truely is a piece of art.

Edit: Found it. http://www.uksgc.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=1309&hl=brass

Yes, this is indeed the same cannon off the UKSGC.
But that doesn't make it any less beautiful or unique. I am rather envious to be honest - fortunately, I can pretend that because it's a combustion, it doesn't matter too much.

So, jddrw, that means the social function in question is long in the past.

@paaiyan: Grape shot has been a long term joke at my house, because grapes were one of the earliest ammunitions I used on a regular basis. They don't get used much any more, because I found that high pressures and fast valves (which is all I do these days) would turn them into wine before they left the barrel unless they were frozen solid.

It looks like it should be in a glass case at a museum.
