After about 2 months, my hybrid is finally done. Its is constructed of SCH40 iron and SCH80 fittings. The chamber is (1) 2'' nipple that is 12'' long and a 1.5'' nipple that is 8'' long, with two 3/4'' nipples. The barrel is SHC40 pvc (rated at 480 psi) The union is also 3/4'' and is made of iron. The meter for the propane/mapp gas (I will probly use mapp gas because it ignites better than propane) is made of hose that is rated at 300 psi and a few brass nipples along witha 0-30 psi pressure gauge for messuring mapp gas. There is another pressure gage on the back that goes up by both BAR and psi. The ignition is a stun gun with a single spark in the back of the chamber. In the picture i didnt bother hooking up the ignition, but it works. Here are a few pictures. Let me know what you think. I will eventually change the barrel, it is a little too flexible for a hybrid.

Is it LOUD? Twisted Evil
Pretty shnazzy little gun, just don't go blowing the barrel off, we would hate to have you in the E.R. with your barrel through your chest and trying to explain to the doctor how it happened...
I'll shut up now.

This is a nice hybrid looks great but I agree you should have entered it unless you have another even better cannon.

Oh ya and a side note:
It is great to have other people using Military time keeps a lot of confusion at bay.

About how much did the whole thing cost? I might've made one awhile ago, but the price is overwhelming. Where's the ignition?! Or is that why you're not testing til Sunday?
EDIT: Oops, didn't read the whole thing til now.

Ya, it usually helps to read it. The cost? I didnt really keep track of it, but probly about $150. I already had the stun gun, but i think i have to get a new one because it sudenly desided that it doesnt like working. I had all the ball valve and i found the union in my shed, which cut the cost by $30. In fact the free union is what inspired the entire cannon.

I Think that i am going to mount the entire cannon on a piece of wood, that way its easyer to load and move. The barrel will stay strait as well. This thing is a pain to carry to my firing range, which is 1/4 mile away, because i have to carry the chamber (which weighs 15-18 pounds) and then go back for the barrel. I cant drive because im not old enough.

Pretty impressive. Have you tested it yet?

yes, but i couldnt get the mix right, i was thinking maybe a quik shot of oxygen to get it right. that should do it.

the spark is impressive too, it is about 2 inches long and sounds like a machine gun. why, i dont know, but thats how stun guns are.

Hmm With an ignition like that and a long chamber, would DDT happen?
I have no idea, but someone around here would.

Deflagration to Detonation Transition
Basically, it means the gases will explode instead of burning really fast, and with an iron gun, which probably won't explode, the bang should be pretty good. Twisted Evil

You built a hybrid without researching first?
Hmmph.
Detonation deflagration<SP? transition.
really bad.

Even in a iron gun, I wouldn't be safe.
At least by my safety standards.
