Blame it on the computer.. Rolling Eyes (Just kidding btw Smile )

But that is a nice sprinkler valve that you modded the heck out of, noname. I might just try this.

You just removed the diaphram and set your new one in and that's all it needed to be swapped? Could you explain a little more about that O-Ring you had to put in. How big was it?

I have drilled out several blowguns, however I never thought about posting anything about it,
I have never messed with the diaphragm ,that could be tricky.

All I did was mod the blowgun and make my own diaphragm. I don't know how big the O-ring was, I just took the two valve body parts to the hardware store and picked the one that fit into the groove perfectly, was wide enough to stretch a tiny bit into the groove, and thick enough to seal. I have no information on the O-ring, sorry. Ace just has them in little boxes; 1" or smaller costs 25 cents, over that is 50, and the uhge 3 and 4" ones are a dollar and something cents.

I take it that making the rod on the blow gun smaller simply increases airflow right?

It would also seem to me that you have converted a diaphragm valve into some sort of piston. Is there much more purpose to rubber disc that to keep the coin seated in the center, over the hole in the valve??

Were abouts it the sprinkler valve filled from? There seems like a shitlaod of air would just leak out past the diaphram if it were chamber sealing.

I did this before but i made it like a barrel sealer..AKA turned the valve around and filled from the top and as for the leak problem i got some gasket material worked a charm. But I couldnt see a huge increase in power.

Filing the rod down increases airflow a bit, drilling the holes out makes it even better. The rubber disc is so that it can actually move, and it seals.
Most sprinkler valves are barrel sealers, I haven't seen any that aren't.

I tried this today. My diaphram was made out of flat pvc and had some rubber on the face. I guess it was 1/2 piston 1/2 diaphram. When i pumped it up it sealed fine, but it leaked out the side because the old diapram had a built in O ring and sealed the leak. when i took out the stock diaphram i was also forced to take the O ring out too. I was wondering if I could make one by taking a inner tube from a bike tire and cut it and shape it so that it fits around the outside and cut holes where the screws go. Would that work? what else can i do to seal it up without buying O rings or epoxy/gluing it?

Cutting thin rubber into a round gasket would probably work, or you can buy and O-ring for the groove that runs along the inside of the lid and valve body.

So how well does the new diaphram hold air? It doesnt seem like a good seal. Im thinking about trying to do this soon.

It holds air perfectly; why wouldn't it?

Okay I have some questions.

Do you think this would work on a sprinkler valve that had a guide rod?
All you would have to do is somply remove the rod right?

Are we sure that this increases airflow in the valve?

Also, I can undertand modding the actual valve in the blowgun, but couldn't you also drill away the inlet and outlet in the blowgun body?

Yeah you could drill out the body but you still have to deal with the valve itself as a choke point.Exclusively drilling out the inlet and outlet would do very little.

1st question:
Yeah, it would most likely work.
2nd question:
Yes; it lets the diaphragm up another 1/2," which increases flow quite a bit.
3rd question:
Yes you could do that, but like goathunter said, it would be pointless unless you also drilled out the valve body itself.
