Oh ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the info, I’ll probably give this a try when I get some rubber for it.

Filing the rod down increases airflow a bit, drilling the holes out makes it even better. The rubber disc is so that it can actually move, and it seals.
Most sprinkler valves are barrel sealers, I haven't seen any that aren't.

This looks great. If I do this to a Husky Blow Gun will it vent fast enough to port a 3" or 4" coaxial? What about a 2" Piston?

Second question, you mentioend tha you drilled holes as in plural. But the pic shows one hole on the removabel inside whats the second hole tat gets drilled.

Third, sorry what part of the internal rod do you file? The middle part between the O-rings.

Thank you in advance.

1st, you can try, but I still doubt it. It may be able to pilot a 2" valve, but it'll be slow. A modified blowgun has about the same flow as a 1/4" ball valve.
2nd: There's a hole on each side of the tube holding the rod, drill them both.
3rd: Yes, the part between the O-rings. I would highly recommend putting some masking tape or something over the O-rings to protect them; it's very easy to damage them and ruin the seal.

Thank you no name.

Also to mod the inside diaphragm...Am i looking for something that fits in the hole, or something that fits in the spring? I guess I am asking is when the air is released the piston flies up, what’s to make sure t doesn’t go awry and move away from under the spring and go to the side and thereby prevent a good seal from happening?

I cut a sheet rubber circle to size, then epoxied a Fun Quest token to it. It fits perfectly inside the spring.

If I am in doubt as to an exact fit. should i hot glue the "piston" to the spring.

I was going to go to home Depot and find the right sized washer at the same time is searched for the O-Ring

You can if you want, just try your ideas and see if they work.

when drilling the blowgun be sure to drill out the holes in the blowgun body itself for even better flow

That gets complicated, my camera's battery died while writing the How-To, so I just left that out. It isn't needed though, because the flow is choked by the internals, and not very much by the body itself.

i got a question. Ho do you reduce the size of the internals to half of what they were. by compressing them or with a nail file or whatever?
And you drill that hole to make it 1/4 inch for the blowgun valve right?

Try rewording your questions, I couldn't really understand either of them. In the second one, are you asking how big of a hole to drill?

"Get enough air to exit."

Pilot volume or something?

It could also be how you made the diaphragm and modified the blowgun. Don't expect your first homemade diaphragm valve to work, especially since almost no one makes them. It seems to be all pistons nowadays. Confused
