What's another good source for free lead? No tire stores around here give out free tire weights, even if I did say it's for a science project.

How about buying it from a scrap dealer, probably around 10 bucks a kilo.
That's not toooooooo expensive.

If you want to play it dangerous, you can get a few pounds of lead out of car batteries. You'll need corrosion resistant gloves, goggles, and a resperator, preferrably.

DEAD ones... By the way.

Go to a scrap yard, lead is only about $0.50USD/lb last time I got some. I was lucky enough to find a deposit from a caster (probably a reloader) in nice ~.5lb ingots that fit perfectly in my lead pot. If you are lucky, there will be some bullets there as well. I got some that are about .64 cal, they look to be for a muzzle loader. They melt nice and quick in a half full pot of molten lead, without freezing their surrounding. Great for when I am am casting a couple pounds of ball mill media. Hell, the bullets them selves would be good media...

I want to make a bullet shaped too but remember that you dont need 2 pieces of plaster for that
my father has that caps you put in front of your mouth and nose. would they help a lot ?

and am I helping if I say you maybe can make a mold for multiple balls ?
and I want to skip the wax part and use a marble since i have a marble barrel. Very Happy
