I didn't say anything about it being safe Wink

It could be more accurately called an early prototype of the small scale testbed for the big gun design. Essentially a prototype of a prototype. Rolling Eyes

I didn't see this cannon before...great job! I like the welded aspect; it just makes everything seem so much safer and solid, though I am not sure if that it true or not Rolling Eyes . Either way, it increases the cool factor.

Those videos were sick; the cannon sounds like some sort of ridiculous rifle.

very nice hybrid you have there DYI.
I'm really glad you fueling system worked well, knowing it works makes me consider putting it on FEAR.

That muzzle flash and sound were incredible by the way

i just looked at the prices for the High-accuracy guages...... DAMN!!! is all i can say.

My eyes are kind of fixed on the Digital Guages. They seem like they would be more accurate over higher pressure ranges (does that make sense?).
to me, if you could get ONE digital guage to monitor the meter pressure, the chamber pressure, and the max combustion pressure, it would be more cost effective and easier to use.

Im still in the construction phases of my hybrid at the moment but im seriously considering using the high-accuracy guages. I feel like i wont have as many misfires.

Damage vids will be posted next weekend. At 4x oxy/fuel, it should go well over Mach 1 with a golfball (~1 500 fps).

And the whole point of the high accuracy gauges is that they eliminate the meter altogether. This meter will be universal, and will have about $300 worth of gauges attached to it in the final version to allow for any imaginable fuel/oxidiser mix. Right now I have capabilities for up to 4x highly accurate oxy/fuel mixes, up to 20x less accurate oxy/fuel mixes (which obviously aren't possible with the current chamber and ignition), and up to 15x air/fuel mixes (but I don't have a pressure supply for over 10x oxy/fuel yet.

This system doesn't just reduce misfires. It completely eliminates them. By the look of the muzzle flash, this thing probably has higher accuracy than the conventional hybrid meters, and it's certainly easier to use.

This is my first hybrid. But I don't half do anything, and I wasn't going to start with some pansy little 30 cubic inch design that couldn't shoot through 1/2" plate steel... I mean, that just wouldn't quite do it for me.

On a related matter, I was doing a harmless, blank fire 3x demo in my backyard when my asshat neighbour called the cops. My parents covered for me and through something that seemed like telekinesis, we all came up with the story that it was a simple pneumatic burst disk noisemaker. The cops get a lot of bullsh*t calls from that guy, and they obviously didn't notice the large wooden stand that was resting on my shed, or the fully assembled 75mm hardened steel APFSDS round sitting on my deck.

The point of all this rambling is that my parents want me to wait until everyone has cooled down, and won't let me do any more shooting until next Monday, so the video will be postponed from next weekend, to sometime next week. In the downtime, I'll be trying to build the most kickin' silencer in the land to quiet this thing down a bit. Any advice on that would really be appreciated, because making things less noisy has never been a strong point of mine.

Called the cops huhhh. I could tell that blast was at least 20 db louder than your average-bear potato gun shot...doesn't surprise me a neighbor called you in. Good thing your parents support you. Guess it's time to find some shootin' grounds out in the country somewhere... I have to do the same thing.

Edit: re. quieter...you could always lengthen your barrel some...or as long as your shooting blanks, build a big muffler for it to shoot into..something big and baffled, and can take the punishment...bigger version of a car muffler. Baffled-up 55 gallon barrel maybe...
