hey guys, this is my first post here...after a few hours of searching I went and built myself a 1'x3" pvc chamber and 2'x2" pvc barrel combustable cannon. I am now stumped with my ignition source.
I found a piezo ignitor in my garage and it has a wire coming from the button to a ceramic/plastic piece with an electrode style tip on it. I am confused on how to wire this up, as i am seeing most people with 2 leads from their piezo button attached to 2 screws. is it possible to make my type of lighter to work or do I have to buy a 2 lead one?

thanks, this is the final step. cannon is ready to go minus my igniter

Your problem is that you dont know where is the 2 lead . Right ? Or you have to buy a second lead ?

You have to look where the spark is jumping to.
That can be the Housing. The Housing is connected somewhere with the piezo. You can solder a cable on that place.

The ignitor It should have a wire emerging from about the middle of the casing and a brass cap on the bottom. That brass cap is the other "wire" you are looking for. Tape a wire to that brass cap and there you go.

this is what mine looks like, sort of...the end piece does not look like a sparkplug however, just a ceramic piece with a tip on it. there is only one wire coming from teh bottom of the lighter and if i hold the end piece to a ground and push it, it will spark.

It looks as if the tip is designed to pass current to the frame of the grill in order to produce a spark, which then returns it to the ignitor. How was it mounted in the grill?

I think your right....I do not know how it was mounted to the grill because I found it in my garage Cool

I figured it out though...on the side of my igniter there is a tiny wire that runs downward burrowed into the plastic...at the bottom where it ends its bent 90* in, I wrapped a 24ga wire to it and to the other end of the screw, now It works perfectly. I've taped it up now and am waiting to buy a new end cap (because I drilled a hole in this one thinking I could stick the igniter in there, afterwards I thought it might not be a good idea in case the pressure blows it out or if the wires melt inside..

here are some pictures, tell me what you think. its my first gun,i have yet to shoot it
the dimensions/parts i used are: 1'x3" pvc chamber, 2'x2" pvcchamber, bbq igniter, 2 screws, shaved barrel end to cut potatoes, 3-2" pvc reducer and 3" pvc endcap
