ITWOST, inspired by Mr. C's purchase, I have been looking for a high pressure floor pump available in the U.S., and I have found this pump: http://tiny.cc/s1Dgw It use two pump cylinders (one big and one small) to reach high pressure without pumping forever. Anyone have any idea of whether or not this pump is worth the 70 some dollars? I have heard some good things about the "Joe Blow" brand, but I am looking for your guy's opinions.

The QEV's I purchased from Fastenal. I am lucky enough to have a local walk-in store and have a company account there.

http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/detail.ex?sku=0423203

I sprayed the entire valve with leak detector. The TINY bubbles appeared first from inside the QEV exhaust port. I did not look inside it, the bubbles "bubbled out".
As pressure increased the bubbles became bigger. You could hear hissing sound from inside the valve.

I rarely treat valves like this. A leak means you have pushed it too far.

I've started work on my cartridge-fed, bolt-action hybrid. Work will be quite slow unfortunately.

In the world of spuds today, I have learnt a valuable lesson about life. It sucks to be away from your spudding workshop, but there are always other benefits to be had Very Happy

ITWOST I finished a very basic 2in piston cannon that fires golf balls.
Im debating whether I should post it or not because its just really ordinary.
But its powerful as hell, and makes my ears ring at over 80psi.

After seeing that lineup I think I will be able to die a happy man Smile

Just kidding, I intend to die bitter, cold and alone, just as I planned Smile

ITWOST, I detonated 15L of oxy/propane mix inside a balloon with an exploding wire system, just to make sure that the chem. class demo tomorrow would be sufficiently loud. Long story short: KA-F***ING-BOOM.

Here's the setup I used for that:

Also, for quite a while now, I've felt that I was missing a tool essential to spudding. That hole in my toolkit was filled today, with the purchase of this:

Wow that is one huge pipe wrench
It dwarfs your 10x hybrid

Anyways ITWOST I tested my PC(Piston cannon) a bunch and have concluded it to be my favorite launcher so far. It is powerful, loud, easy to use, and pump time isnt *that* bad.

INWOST, I checked in on my youtube inbox from a couple of days ago - JESUS!!!
There's a several messages asking for plans for HEAL, and that doesn't count the number that ask in the comments.

Right, time to run up a generic response message that says something like:
"Sorry, I don't have blueprints, and I can't reverse engineer, but check out the spudfiles forums, 'cos there's lots of people there that can help."

ITWOST, Just got back from out of town for weekend. My friend whose house I stayed at is on a lot of property so I brought Thunderpup along.

Was nervous if he'd be impressed or laugh. He replied that it was really cool but i've got too much time to goof around.

So he had a 60LB. pull compound bow on the wall and a target/backstop and I stated it would probably penetrate almost as much into the foam backstop w/ same arrow.
He took me up on it and for the first time I got Thunderpup up to about 125psi with a plastic shopping bag wad and the full length arrow (field head sticking out slightly of my 30" barrel).
Then we shot the 60LB.compound bow, and they both were equal distance Shocked

He was so impressed, he showed me all the pipes laying around and told me to take my pick of whatever I wanted to build one better(I told him it was a quick build and could be more powerful etc.)!!!

Looks like I'll be building some sabots (for accuracy) and I got about 7' of 1.5" sch40 pvc and about 3.5' ft. 2" sch40 pvc. There was 10' of 3" pressure rated but it had been outside and I'd rather buy new stuff than risk it. There was also a piece of 4" rigid for electric conduit I may ask for later.
But WooHOOO!!! I got my new workbench from him for helping out also.
So be expecting some nice pics soon. I left the Thunderpup up there for now but I have the 1.5x 7ft and 2" x3.5ft and 1/2 emt conduit(fits red wire nuts) and 1" sprinkler valve and workbench. Any suggestions? Cool

Bummer bigbob, it those damned mixed messages they always send you.

ITWOST, made a wooden piston on the school lathe today, great experience. It was my first time and i've already got the hang of it, the possibilities are endless. It's a huge-ass metal lathe btw, not a wooden one.

There's not a girl around I'm intimidated to get turned down by because after all they're just "girls".
Besides it's like the law of numbers, say you get turned down by 9 then one will be cool out of the ten.
Sometimes they want you to be persistent but other times that's like stalking. Razz Cool BTW hope to see that video.

@MrC, cool you're learning the lathe, really great to be able to design something and build protypes yourself. Cool

ITWOST, I finalised my plan for a Cartridge-fed Semi-Auto Hybrid. Unfortunately, I will have to make my own 3axis milling machine in order to machine the parts for it. (I have a thing with other people doing the work, they will get it wrong and it will cost me a fortune.)
I can probably do it for just about £70 at a real push. Then the materials for the CFSAH will probably set me back by £150 or so. Money well spent in my eyes.

If only I could get somebody to buy all this PVC pipe and combustion stuff from me!
