As I said before... Theres some delay on the Iron Chamber / FE project... My compressor need some maintenance and I need some money - /me lazy worker
So, my first SpudGun will be PVC...
I found here a PVC Pipe 9.4mm thickness, pressure rated to 106PSI, I will use it at 70Psi for security reasons... Money restrictions forces me to use a Ball Valve instead a Sprinkler one... And, I dont wanna spend money on a Sprinkler atm, just because its my first Cannon \o/ - Maybe I get some experience on it, and someday build an Piston Valve.
/me too newbie ;D
I will look to find out a nice PVC Ball Valve cannon, and literaly copy the project
Lol...
Thanks again guys...
Someday i will build the Iron Chamber... and post pics here... Maybe until the end of the year... (I need to save money for PSP ;3~)
Sorry about my poooor english
Any project suggestion"powerful" to PVC Ball Valve?[/u] |

Sounds to me like he did a fair amount of research. Asking for a suggestion is ok in this case. Lighten up Tom...... |

Power, and ballvalve dont usually come in the same sentence.
But if you are really desperate to use one instead of a pre-modded sprinkler from BCARMS, then just do it like this:
[spoonfeed]
CHAMBER-VALVE-BARREL
Tap a schrader valve into the chamber (trough a fitting AND a pipe)
Make sure the pvc you use is PRESSURE RATED!
The volume of the chamber should be about as the same volume of the barrel.
A simple way to do this: Make your chamber have double the diameter of your barrel, but make the chamber about 0.25 times the length of the barrel.
The most important thing to watch out for, is to use pressure rated fittings.
Avoid bell reducers, use bushings instead.

I don't know if iron is cheaper than mild steel where you live, but mild steel is certainly more available. Do you have the equipment to cast steel? You could make the chamber quite a bit stronger that way, as there'd be no seam.
As for a powerful beginner's valve: Either get a QEV from McMaster (you'll need someone from the State's to ship it to you, but they're dirt cheap and high quality), or make a burst disk valve. Burst disks are kind of a pain because the disk has to be reloaded, but they do have the best flow and opening time of any valve, and all they require is a union, and a lot of aluminum foil to make disks with. |
