I want to build a portable semiautomatic airsoft gun but I have some CPVC piping rated at 100 psi does anyone know if CPVC will actually explode at 100 psi or do they rate them safely to make sure they don't explode.
I want to use the CPVC and i cant pump it higher then 110 because my compressor only goes to about 110 i plan on pumping it up to 100 psi is this dangerous or will I be fine by pumping it up to its limit?
PS I think the piping that is rated for 100 psi water pressure will that change when I am pressurizing it with air. |

| It will probably be fine but I wouldn't risk going over the rating. you should just get some sch 40 pvc. |

just don't drop it while holding it.

cpvc' comes in a few different standards
sch 40 '
sch80
sdr(standard dimension ratio)11
if it's bone or ivory colour and uses "home depot"type fittings most likely you have sdr type
100 is the rating at 180 f. room temp. is a lot higher
same rating for for all sizes.
primer, if you use, is the same as pvc
cement is specific to cpvc.
The cement sold as 3in 1 or universal for pvc,cpvc,abs is a sham. cut you rating in 1/3 ,1/4 if you use it
if you search you could find this and much more
CPVC pipe for plumbing systems is manufactured by extrusion in sizes �" through 2" copper tube size (CTS) dimensions. The CTS plumbing products are made to copper tube outside diameter dimensions, in accordance with ASTM D-2846 specifications, and have an SDR 11 wall thickness. The pressure ratings of the CTS SDR 11 systems are 400 psi (pounds per square inch) at 73 F and 100 psi at 180 F. CPVC plumbing pipe is sold in both straight lengths and (in small diameters) coils.

| If my ass-backwards mind is correct, then the rated pressure is at most 1/2 of the burst pressure for plastics. That way there is a bit of leeway between working pressure, and failure... |

| The pressure rating usually has a safety factor of two or three, depending on the provider. But you have to remember there are such things as defective products. But if it says 100, you should be fine at 100. |
