looks good... you can easily upgrade it into a silencer if you want to

It will reduce the report slightly as it is.

However, about turning it into a full blown silencer... I'd advise against that, as for optimal improvement to accuracy, it would be best if it vented straight to atmosphere.

Well, I'm a bit aggravated. No noticeable accuracy improvement. I even tried making the holes alot bigger in the thing. At least it looks cool....lol.
I'm thinkin' my horrible C/B is coming back to bite me in the a#s.
So, just so I would not have to end the shooting session in a bad mood I loaded a sabot and 50 cal ball, and cranked it up to about 355psi. Then I slapped on a 12" barrel extension and shot a 2X4. Here is a couple cool damage shots for ya.

Finished splitting the board where it had already almost been in two.....

well I was expecting that there are other things that affect your accuracy... If I were you I would try building a hopup to put spin on ammo...

at least you can turn that airstriper into a silencer Very Happy

I'm a little surprised... When I experimented with air strippers, accuracy was improved, and very noticeably so.

Roughly what area of holes are there compared to that of the main valve? You do need quite an excess, or results will be limited.
When I first did it, I used about 2 times the area - results were visible, but not great, so I adjusted it for about 5 times the valve's area worth of holes on the air stripper - at that point, the results were really noticeable.

With a large C:B ratio, that could set you back, so a large area will be essential for optimal results.

Next time I do it, as the big project I'm fiddling with is going to be at least three times as powerful as the cannon my current air stripper was designed for, I'm going for around 20 times the valve's area, and also an external redirector for recoil control (not reduction though) to stabilise the muzzle.

Ragnarok, I did the math, which took a while because, I have a ton of holes, and 3 different sizes of holes, but it works out to a ratio of about 5.5:1 in favor of the air stripper. But as you said, I have a much more extreme C:B so maybe I need more holes in it. I will try and see how many more holes I can drill while retaining structural integrity and at least an inch or 1/2" of smooth barrel at the muzzle. Then I will re-test the accuracy.

One thing I have been wondering is how much pressure will effect the accuracy, as I have been doing my tests at my air compressor pressure which is between 110 to 130psi or so. Where I really care if it is accurate would be closer to 350 or 400psi.
I can only imagine that the extra pressure would make it worse, if we stick to the theory that the muzzle blast is the main problem.
But then again, a higher velocity would create a larger momentum on the bullet, but also a larger muzzle blast to effect it as well I guess.
I think it will just be trial and error, since I'm not an engineer...lol

Well, keep in mind that a higher velocity has a tendency to make round ammunition spiral if it has no backspin. Does your gun have a hopup?
