Can this simple cannon work?
The trigger just stop the projectile being fired, and the O ring hold the air from leaking.
My idea came from spetsnaz ballistic knife, As I know ballistic knife is so powerful with spring, if it replaced with 150 PSI compressed air I think its gonna be so cool..

Here s the design

It'll work, but it won't get any range.

The idea certainly works, I had done some similar experimentation here.

You have a very short barrel though, so you need a heavy projectile and higher pressure to get better performance. A mountain bike shock pump will take you to 400 psi easily and cheaply. Why not stick a knife blade in it anyway Very Happy

And this is one of many reasons of why your not a mod Wink

Yeah but i have to agree, good idea but if you want it to have any power you realy need a barrel.

Technically, with a bit of tweaking and some moderately high pressure, this should outperform a burst disk and be easier to reset.

This is my design with longer "barrel", and better aerodynamic projectile. But it still cannot be considered as cannon. Maybe we can call it a special projectile ballistic thingy Very Happy

Similar to a idea sgort87 and a few of us was kicking around in the chat room a few moons ago. Your idea is smaller and more efficient. I like it. Why can't you call it a cannon? There are a lot of mini cannons here...

You know, a lot of homemade nerf guns use a clothespin and a rod for a trigger in a springer gun. This design is very similar to a springer and using a clothespin may be easier than custom building a trigger for it.

Put that sear at the back of a small coax and have it keep the piston in position.
Release to fire..

That would be more powerfull ( add an endcap and spring!)
You could put the schrader valve in the piston

Here's a couple of suggestions for more efficient projectiles:

Oh Thanks JSR, this is soooo cooool, the second picture look so efficient, it have the minie bullet effect and very long "barrel".

JSR, please feel free if you want to make this one. I dont have any access to make this, even this is so simple and efficient making the projectile and trigger gonna be so hard.

By the way the 1st picture, how the paintball can be launched if the carrier/sabot did'nt separate in the air? It will be the most hurt paintball ever Rolling Eyes

Never said that was a paintball Wink

My plate is full but if I did make this it would be something like this:
