I am building a minibike, the frame is full suspension, and has everything on it,except the engine and clutch.the engine is the cool part. It is a 4 horsepower kolher industrial engine. from the serial no. , I know the engine was built in 1979 but my grandpa bought it new from the factory,as a replacement for his garden tiller. but he never needed it and it has been vacum sealed in plastic that it came from the factory in. the original paint is perfect and no fluids (oil, gas) have ever been put in it.you can see your reflection on the inside of the gas tank. the engine is all heavy duty cast iron, and the cilender head is re-borable. the shaft is 3/4 inch.I am going to paint the minibike camo, and because it is so quiet,I am going to use it when I host paintball games to snipe people, then escape silently.

EDIT: maby not so silently

you would be supprised about how quiet is.those engines you said you worked on were old and worn out.this one has never been run,and is probobly quite a bit quieter than, say,a 20 year old lawnmower or generator engine . Have you worked on this kind of kolher ? it is the K91R the R means retractable start . this is the manual

http://www.kohlerengines.com/common/resources/ens_593_f_all.pdf

and salad, i thought of using a torque converter, but at the moment I need to buy other parts for the minibike. But eventually I will put a torque converter on it.thanks for the suggestion, though Very Happy

Have you heard this thing run yet? Let me asure you, it will make plenty of noise! I'm not trying to shot you down, i think it's cool you got this engine still brand new, for sure!!! One with the rite eshaust setup can be quite, but you risk overheating the engine if you have to much back presure on the eshaust valve, (valve faces operate cherry red at running tempature). You mite want to check out these links for muffler's.

I didn't say they were old and worn out, some of them were, some not. I've worked on a few K91's, they are rare now day's. If you were to put that on ebay pictured in the shrink wrap you could make major bucks on it!! No dout in my mind on that! I wonder if you still have the oridgenual muffler with it?

yes, it still has the original muffler on it. thanks for the links,I might leave it stock ,but I might put one of those on it after a while. just curious, but how much do you think It would go for on ebay? Smile

edit: it is the pancake muffler shown at the top of this page.

sorry.dumb comcast phone and internet service were out for a few days.no,my minibike is not finished. The frame was discovered to be rusted out.I bought a minichopper, and while walking down the road, discovered some guy had thrown out a perfectly good dirtbike fork, with brake, speedometer, front tire, and rim.It fit PERFICTLY!!!!(but 6 inches shorter) I started to prep it so my grandpa could cut and weld it more verticly, for better manuverability, handling, and ground clearence. he came over, and said we could modify it, or we could go to a motorcycle salvage yard (they stock tons of minibikes too) and find a more suitable frame, with everything on it,also. so we are going to go on saturday, and if we do not find anything better,we will modify this frame. This project just seems to GO ON FOREVER!!!! I really want to ride it !!!

Yea, i understand the time thing, the go cart with BALLS!!! took about 1 1/2 months to get going. As for ebay it's hard to perdick something like that, a collector would be willing to bid it up but it's hard to say for sure. Someone allways is looking for a K series Kolher no matter what size, but i would not sell it, you do have a prize on your hands!
