MINI HYBRID

Provided By Mr.Plow - http://www.geocities.com/boomstick989/

This mini is tested remotely up to 3x, and after manymanymany tests I have decided it is safe to be handheld with a 2x mix. It uses a simple BBQ ignition, direct propane, and a 3/4" sch80 union with milk-jug burst discs. The chamber is 6" of 2" sch80 and the barrel is 3' of 3/4" sch40. While the fittings arent sch80, they are NSF-pw, so for 2x mixes its fine.

This shot is a close up of the side of the mini, showing the propane system, union, and a piece of the foxtail ammo at the bottom.

Here's the back of the mini hybrid. In this shot you can see the schrader valve.

This is the Foxtail ammo I use for testing. Its very simple, just a wrapped up shop rag with tape and a penny (for weight) on one end. Its lightweight and is extremely durable, so for testing purposes its ideal. Moreover, it slows down quickly, so it can be easily retrieved (not to mention it is a safe suburban ammo).

Very nice clean look. Like the propane injection. One thing though i was just wondering how many shots can you get out of one of those tanks. I bet it shots far but if it dosent it sure as hell looks like it can shoot far. I may end up copying you if that is already.

if your meter only requires like 20 psi, you can get a hell of alot of shots outta a tank, and the tanks are only like 3 bucks so its not a big deal for a new one.

pimpman, you shouldnt start making hybrids unless you fully understand them, spudtech forums have a whole section on them, i suggest you read all the major articles on them before attempting one yourself, you should also make some pneumatics before makin a hybrid, and unions have been known to blow often, so watch out

I have a brass fitting that allows me to fill up a small propane cylinder from a BBQ grill tank. I have to spend about 10 bucks for about 30 small tanks worth of propane, plus I can reuse the same small tank. I got it from a CampMor catalouge. They have a web site at www.campmor.com

I think i should point out the possibilities that this cannon posseses as a paintball marker. As i'm sure that you all know, alot of the pneumatic cannons can be tweaked with in order to create a smaller barrel without comprimising the ammo and psi that can be used, but at the psi that this gun can shoot at, it could in fact work quite well with a scuba tank as its air source. Of course, this is just a theory/rambling.

a scuba tank is 3000psi, the most hybrids have created is about 270 psi and that was only for a few milliseconds. and using that HYBRID as a paintball marker will most likely severely injure/kill someone, that one is probably shooting 800-1000fps and a paintball gun is supposed to max out at 300fps, anything over that can break the goggles of the mask

The scuba tank was a bad example. Sad Sorry Sad . Might want to use the standard pressure then. It was late, and i was tired. Very Happy

Wait, I was looking, and is that a DWV cleanout on the back of the gun? BIG NO NO for a hybrid. I better IM him about that and ask.

doin some calculations figureing that the gun has a chamber space of 18.84 ci. man if it was an even 20ci it be easier for calculations i think with the calculations being somewhat screwy im just gonna make it an even 6 inches for testing let yall know how the results go and if there aint ne reply sometime soon i probally lit myself up
